Popular Post webfact
By Tanakorn Sangiam BANGKOK (NNT) - The Minister of Public Health, said today that major COVID-19 clusters in Thailand, mostly in construction workers’ camps, prisons, and slums are back under control. Health authorities will be giving AstraZeneca vaccine to low-risk people, as the vaccine is known to help boost immunity and reduce the transmissibility of the virus. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health Anutin Charnvirakul has discussed the government’s progress in containing COVID-19 transmission, especially in major clusters, saying that the situation is under control. Large clusters of people infected with COVID-19 have recently been reported linked to densely populated communities in Bangkok, construction workers’ camps, and most prominently at correctional facilities across the country. Mr Anutin said the health system is still capable of treating patients from these clusters, despite the overwhelming number, while uninfected villagers and inmates at these locations will urgently be given COVID-19 jabs. He said AstraZeneca vaccine will be used on this mission, to help boost a person’s immunity and reduce the virus’ transmissibility. Meanwhile, the country’s mass vaccination program will be commencing next month starting with people 60 years or older, and patients with chronic illnesses. Most hospitals and third party venues offering the jabs will require the recipients to book an appointment in advance, which can be done on Mohprompt LINE chatbot or a standalone mobile app, via a local village health volunteer, or directly with a hospital. Mr Anutin said advance appointments will give the Department of Disease Control a target for vaccine distribution. Companies and other organizations can also request a vaccination service for their employees, by sending an official request to the department. Some vaccination venues will be offering services to people without appointments. Under this arrangement, Mr Anutin said walk-ins will be waitlisted to receive the jabs if persons with an appointment fail to show up, in order to ensure the vaccine does not go to waste. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-05-19 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

dinsdale
Spokeman for CCSA saying clusters NOT under control. People warned to be extra careful. Health Minister does't know what CCSA is saying.
