cooked
Actually, this question applies to my fish pool, but I guess the question can be asked here. I have spent several days cleaning our fish pool and have decided that the concrete has become too rough, algae collect easily and cleaning gets worse every year. So I wonder whether I should use epoxy paint or polyurethane paint? I'll need to smooth out a few holes in the concrete so whichever I choose I'll need an appropriate filler. Thanks. Saanim
I rather would avoid any painting. The algae are eaten by the fish, you can see them sometimes how they are biting, licking the walls. Why to make their ambience too much artificial? They like to have it a bit muddy, like in their natural life...
worgeordie
Check out Jotun Paints, I cannot remember the name of the paint used to paint pools, ponds etc, but the brand is Jotun, Painted my pond about 20 years ago, and it's still holding up good, but the algae still grows on it.. it's a 2 part paint ,mix the hardener with the paint, very tough finish. comes in different colours, I chose Blue. regards Worgeordie

Also comes from Jotun. Then the Jotun paint which is good but only comes in blue currently.

EVENKEEL
There are products to halt the growth of algae. If you do coat the pond flush the water many times or fish could die due to toxic water.
Saanim
If you kill the algae you kill the natural habitat of fish. As I said before the fish eat the algae unless you overfeed them by other food. Sometimes, I even add them veils of algae growing in the tanks filtering the recirculation water. Yesterday I just took picture, there is no algae, just black concrete floor and walls.
