webfact
Government officials in face masks attend a preparation of the Central Vaccination Center as the country deals with a fresh wave of the infections after tackling earlier outbreaks of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), in Bangkok, Thailand, May 21, 2021. REUTERS/Athit Perawongmetha Thailand on Monday (May 31) reported 5,485 new COVID-19 cases and 19 additional deaths. ● 3,532 new infections ● 1,953 prison / prison infections Monday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 159,792 with 1,031 deaths. The news comes as most Thais believe they can resume normal life after all get first vaccine shot. Up to 87% of respondents to a recent poll say they want every Thai citizen to receive their first COVID-19 vaccine jab and do not mind if the second shot is postponed. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2021-05-31 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates
Popular Post ThailandRyan
Yesterday the Soi directly behind us was closed and the BMA spent a considerable amount of time washing and spraying at all of the entrances to the homes on that stretch and the shops. The only reason I can see is that a case must have popped up there. On top of that many of the homeless folks that we normally see on our walks have seemingly disappeared from here since Friday. Stay safe folks, the numbers being found in more than just factories is growing, and I see that CP has now closed it's poultry factory due to an outbreak there. 4

Popular Post TallGuyJohninBKK
After two consecutive 4,000+ case days, Thailand on Monday reported an even higher 5,485 new COVID cases, including 19 new deaths and a pandemic record 3,532 new cases among the general public, shattering the prior record set just a week ago. The 5,485 total cases Monday, including 1,953 new cases among prison inmates, also in reality would be a pandemic record high for Thailand – except that the country had reported 9,635 total cases on May 17, a figure inflated that day by a multi-day accumulation of 6,853 prison cases. Monday’s record tally of 3,532 new general population cases topped the prior record of 2,922 set on May 23, and provided the latest sign that what had been a slowly growing pandemic in Thailand, at least based on reported cases, in recent days has begun markedly accelerating. The 5,485 total new cases reported Monday followed 4,528 on Sunday and 4,803 on Saturday, the first time during the pandemic that Thailand has reported three consecutive 4,000+ case days. It also followed a government official warning Sunday that the spiraling cases could threaten to overwhelm the nation’s health care system. Monday’s results brought Thailand’s totals since the start of the pandemic in early 2020 to 1,031 deaths and 159,792 total reported COVID cases, including 26,253 reported among the nation’s prison inmates. In one good sign, the 19 new deaths reported Monday was the lowest daily figure in the past eight days. Still, Thailand on Monday reached another new record of 50,416 COVID positive patients quarantined in some kind of hospital facility (regular hospital, field hospital or makeshift hotel-hospital), including 1,233 listed in critical condition, and 390 of those requiring ventilators in order to breathe. https://www.facebook.com/informationcovid19/photos/a.106455480972785/336038154681182/?type=3 4

This new peak will not be shown until the stats catch up on 7 day rolling average but be patient it will come, not sure why that is so important to you anyway. By the way when was the last time anyone mentioned the term "exponential increase" its hardly relevant when we've had a slow but steady increase leading to this new peak. 5

Surely todays data comes in as 1/7th of the plot. The smoothing effect helps to see the trend. If the next 3 or 4 days are also high it will be very apparent. Average over the last 7 days 3,402 which represents around a 50% increase from the floating around the low to mid 2,000's the previous wk. So up 50% in a wk. I'm sure you will somehow try to spin this into being good news.

No but you been saying its stable going down while in reality numbers have been creaping up. It might not be exponential but opening up would be foolish.

It's all bad, but at least not as bad as some people feared. Hopefully the spike can be attributed to the factory outbreaks and they can be contained. 2 3 1 1

It might not be exponential but opening up would be foolish. At this point, any increase at all that is sustained would make opening up again anytime soon problematic. But, a lot depends on where these new cases are located. If there is a cluster of 1,000 in a factory in Udon Thani, that’s a manageable issue, but if most of the new cases are in the greater Bangkok area, that’s going to mean that hotspots are getting out of control.

The only things still firmly closed are parks, pools and schools (and obviously bars & clubs).
