djayz
Covid restrictions aside, what is your favourite pub in Bangkok and why? I'm looking for a place with good pub grub.

clivebaxter
Thought the penalty spot was good, no smoking allowed and friendly staff some decent German beer Used to like food in Robin Hood. 1

Popular Post warrima
Royal Oak 33/1 for me. Perfect spot on a Sunday early afternoon. Just like getting a semi inside/outside table at the front and watch the world go by. 4

captnhoy
I like The Tavern on Soi 4. Good staff good food. All seating is at the U-shaped bar (except the outside smoking seating) so it is great place to chat with people from all over. 1 1

khunPer
Bus Stop Pub soi 4, and Old German Beer House soi 11 – both places good food, Beer House more pub-style – if they are still there, I'm not that frequent a Bangkok-visitor...????
Popular Post Zenwind
The Rock Pub, at BTS Ratchathewi (N1). The great music is the foremost attraction. Food is available. Staff is great. My home away from home. -Zenwind.
Popular Post OneMoreFarang
I find it always interesting when people ask that question. Do you expect an honest answer? Because as we all know it's not just the food and beer and the staff and the pool tables. A good part of what makes a pub a favorite are the guest. If people don't like the regular guests then it's unlikely that they will like the pub. And if the regular guest are replaced by "tourists" who read about that special pub somewhere on the internet then the pub is suddenly not so special anymore. That is why I would never publish anything about my favorite places on the internet. Because I want to keep them as MY favorite places and they wouldn't be MY favorite places anymore with lots of strangers. Over to you. 2 1 1
Popular Post JRG23
I've been to them all in BKK over the years. Best by miles - and a place I only discovered just before the most recent closures - is the Londoner on Phatthanakan Rd. Great beer, great food. Great for families. It's a little expensive but if you can afford it, it's a very enjoyable three or four hours on a Sunday afternoon. 4

I like the Robin Hood. I like that it's opposite the park - nice for a walk and let the kids run. But honestly, the Londoner is better. Not for location. But for beer (great drafts), food, and atmosphere. 2

Popular Post CrunchWrapSupreme
Buddy's Bar & Grill, Soi 89. 500 m from Bang Chak BTS. Wonderful staff. Otto and Tik will take care of you. Great set of regulars who always make you feel welcome. Great farang food. Pizza, nachos, burgers. If your lady prefers Thai, you're welcome to order it from the great Thai place next door, and they'll bring it in. Try the chili burger with "Bangkok's Best Chili", I find that hard to argue with. 4

dddave
Not really a favorite but if you are in the vicinity of Phra Khanong, "O'Rielly's Pub" on Sukhumvit, close to the Rama-4 intersection is cozy, has decent, reasonably priced food and usually a lively crowd on football days.

Have known the owners from long before they ever opened the pub. Sadly, I haven't made it over to the new location on Phatthanakan. Other favorites of mine are Tawan Daeng. I usually go to the Ram Intra location but have been to others.

Is there an O’Reilly’s Pub in Bangkok ??.... PJ O’Briens is cheap as chips.... average food, average beers... but very very reasonable prices.... Tuba (at the end of Ekkamai) is a good pub with a mixed crowd of Thai’s and Westerners. Londonner is great for watching sport, decent homemade beer, excellent food, excellent Sunday buffet, not cheap. Not a Pub: But W’District is a favourite.... even my Thai Inalws like it there !!!

Same same, no solo drinker. But even if we are together with one or several friends in a bar the atmosphere will be different if there are mostly the regulars or i.e. one of two groups of tourists. I remember some time ago I read somewhere on the WWW that Suzie Wong is such a wonderful bar. I thought about writing a comment that it's not really great. But then I thought: Let the tourists go there and hopefully stay there the whole night. ????
