Will the punters be double vaccinated?

100% of punters who travel from overseas will have to be double vaccinated to enter the country.

One of a plethora of requirements.

However as always Thais get off lightly, they can be 70% herd vaccinated with only one dose.

Mega casinos will be built......Then we can have Sihanoukville part 2......

That won't happen till the government gets it's head out of it's a** and legalizes gambling. This government is so screwed up you can't play a friendly game of cards without being arrested

The Pattata  of old  plenty of bars restaurants  as we are now witnessing  will disappear go out of business ect ect

The ones surviving will be the popular big ones who no doubt with lack of competition will increase prices to less custom being available the foreign tourist

Its going to take a couple of years for tourists to start flowing back into Thailand  wont be  any cheap airfares either

Plus hotels will be wanting to recoup their losses  so prices up as well ????

Having been to over 47 countries and to more cities than I can ever recall. I see no way Pattaya or Thailand in general, will become a magnet for primarily wealthy travelers anytime in the near future. They lack infrastructure and appeal.  The country remains somewhat dirty and dysfunctional, it's controlled by unstable military personnel and really there's nothing high end about the country.  I love Thailand, but it is what it is. The leaders are ridiculus and delusional.

Well stated.  The starry-eyed, moralistic Thai elite are attempting to market "somewhat dirty and dysfunctional" as "clean and alluring" to the foreign rich, wealthy, and well-heeled - the average folk who were their bread and butter in the days of old be da*med.
Unfortunately the foreign rich, wealthy, and well-heeled are not interested in "somewhat dirty and dysfunctional."

A pig wearing lipstick and Louise Vuitton is just a well-dressed pig.

Thai elites and their new-found moralism are trying to market a pig as a mythical unicorn.  They only thing they have correct is what they are marketing is a truly mythical creature.
Look at Kaow San Road.  It once was a prosperous 500 lb pig and pig lovers flocked to see it.  Now all that is left is the smell of burnt bacon.  Now who is going to come?

Those who like upscale will travel to Singapore and truly upscale resorts elsewhere in the world where clean infrastructure exists.
Pig lovers will find a new pig.

We will probably end up with yearly vaccinations same as flu, to cope with new variants for years to come.

It will be here for good, we have got to fight against it, not run away from it. The whole world should gradually start opening up now.

The Chinese virus is here to stay, it is no problem to this self elected "PM" to keep the quarantine going. and the borders shut as it does not mean a drop in any of his salary, it probably increases it, the same applies to real politicians all over the world as well.

If all the worlds politicians were losing income, or their jobs and pensions were under any threat, they would soon find a way of getting things  to near enough normal.

in TH we mostly sow (not plant) rice; and the months of sowing are well over - now the girls sell lady drinks via internet, nothing else to do. And play with their sibblings who do not recognize mother anymore

Agree entirely....don't see any "out of work" pole dancers getting their hands dirty (or exposing themselves to the dreaded sunshine) out on the farm. Only their mums, dads uncles and aunties do that kind if work.

Most I see eat, sleep, watch serials on TV, play with their phones, or kids, and look at themselves endlessly in the mirror.

But they'll be on the next bus out once things open up again.

Families will head to safer destinations nearby their home without all of the hassle. Sex tourists, on the other hand, must be truly desperate to return to Pattaya. That's the market that's up for grabs - don't be silly, go for it!

When a country reaches 100% of it's people having been double vaccinated along with zero new infections for 30 days, perhaps we can add it to a green list and allow direct tourists.

That quickly! very little point in aeroplanes anymore is there ????

if they were earnist in their convictions to rebrand Pattaya bulldozers would be flattening soi 6 as we speak - never a btter opportunity than right now

If they were earnest in their convictions to rebrand Pattaya, bulldozers should flatten Pattaya and start over somewhere else where the beaches don't wash away and where there is a First World infrastructure.

People come to Thailand for Thailand.  Thailand is neither clean nor First World.
People who want clean and First World in South East Asia will go to places like Singapore.

If Thailand wants to be Singapore they are going to have to start from scratch.  You don't build a modern castle on foundations of clay on a delta sinking into a river.

Extending the Testing and the Jabs all the way into the night would moot the nightlife (lack of) technicality...

Makes sense if they can supply the medical personnel....

100% right . Families are not going to fly across the world right now , not gonna happen . You can even offer many free things , but right now , or even next year , chances of families visiting are close to 0 . Add on some difficult rules and you are down to 0.0 .

Who is interested of coming to Thailand ? People with some kind of ties with Thailand , like relatives , GF , business , and people who can change travel plans easy and fast . This all equates to the group of single man ( the business , and people with relatives in Thailand will try to come no matter what ) who is interested in coming . Like Thailand made it to holiday destination in the past , like it was expensive/difficult to get there , the people coming weren't the families but single people .

i'm desperate to fly with my family to uk and return to thailand when things have improved...so i dont agree because there are too many families that have been forcefully separated by these travel restrictions

Open the doors and those girls will stop planting rice and be back to Pattaya to open-up again faster than you could ever imagine.

And the mamasans will be touting them as far fresh demanding 5000b barfine and 4000b Short Time.
