Popular Post webfact
Picture: Sophon Cable TV Pattaya's latest plan to woo foreign tourists back to the devastated resort city is called "Pattaya Moves On". This was reported by Sophon Cable TV after a high level meeting at the Intercontinental Hotel ballroom yesterday. Everyone who is anyone was there with the Tourism Authority of Thailand's supremo Yutthasak Suphasorn and Pattaya mayor Sontaya Khunplome holding court. Yutthasak outlined the plans for opening Pattaya, Samui, Hua Hin, Buriram, Krabi, Phangnga and Chiang Mai that would follow the model of the Phuket Sandbox scheme. This involves something called "Seal Approaches" and what Sophon called "Seal Rote" - we presume this was a typo for "route" as seals are not normally spotted on the eastern seaboard. Under this plan foreign tourists - set to arrive in droves come October 1st if some reports are to be believed - will be restricted as to how and where they can arrive and what they can do once they are in Pattaya. There will also be a Koh Larn sandbox for a bit of island variety. Much was made of the need for as many people in Pattaya to be vaccinated to inspire those tourists to return. After a jolly good thrashing of the ideas and consequences - and doubtless a jolly good lunch - the meeting concluded. Once again no evidence was given by the media on Facebook of anyone having booked to come from abroad. That, Thaivisa suggests, remains the Devil in the Details as far as Pattaya and any other tourism cikty or area is concerned. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2021-06-10 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates
Popular Post smedly
what is wrong with these people get vaccine rollout caught up with the rest of the world then there will be no need to restrict anyone as long as they have been fully vaccinated with an effective vaccine. Biggest problem I see going forward is that current vaccines are found to be ineffective against any new variants that come along - then you are back to square one. Fully vaccinated foreigners should not be being resticted or held in one location, Thai people in Phuket vaccinated or not are free to leave the Island yet fully vaccinated foreigners on holiday are not - who exactly is the problem here - the fully vaccinated foreigners ?
Popular Post Leaver
Haven't they realised yet that the whole of Thailand has to become a sandbox. ????

I'm sure it was a typo. But I think he meant "Seal Roti" and not "Seal Route". Sophon will lure the Chinese visitors with a new delicacy, seal served with an Indian twist. madmen
Lots of sandboxes but not one single confirmation of anything. Phuket can't even decide who are low risk countries.
Petey11
Maybe they tote these sealed routes so as to prevent tourists catching covid. Can you imagine tourists travelling outside a controlled area and coming down with covid, it would be " but, but, but, your figures showed no covid infections in that area...." Popular Post champers
I wouldn't mind Chonburi being sealed off now. Who knows what damage is being done by those visiting from Bangkok?
Emdog
More like a kitty litter box, ya think? "What is wrong with these people?" I think TV limits answers to no more than 10,000 words.... ????
Popular Post HarrySeaman
Doesn't the Pattaya City Hall have a meeting room? If so, why waste money renting the Intercontinental Hotel ballroom? The money would be better spent housing the homeless, feeding the needy, or buying vaccines. skorp13
We all know how on time these really run so an October target will most likely be sometime Q1 2022. There won't be much to come back to by then, sorry.

Of concern is the sinovac's effectiveness against new variants of covid. That has the potential to take Thailand back to square one, circa 2020. PETERTHEEATER
Is that the sandbox they are standing around? I expected it to be bigger to handle the Golden Horde expected to arrive any day now.

Because,.......................... Firstly, they have to ' eye a move ' on what to do. They then move to stage two which is to ' mull it over ' then they move to stage three where they have a meeting about having a committee meeting. Stage four is the committee meeting whereby they ' eye ' and ' mull ' the proposals, ALL AT THE SAME TIME, and submit a report. By the time this is done, Prayut has changed his mind, Prawit doesn't care because he's out buying new watches and Anutin only cares about foreigners ' wearing masks ' Then they pass it out and on to Immigration for their committee to ' mull it over ' if they can catch them in as they are usually out in their high tech BMWs catching foreigners who were late filing their 90 day reports or preparing Phuket for ' sandbox arrivals ' It's simple really! FalangJaiDee
If they dont open the clubs, bars, and allow alcohol NOBODY IS COMING. The isaan angles won’t come back and tourists will vote wit their feet. this is by design though, and every “plan” is just window dressing to mask the real plan which is slow starvation of the farang oriented tourist industry
