It's very common for lamp posts to have decorations on them here.  Each area seems to have there own.

But those are pretty gawdy.

This one has candy twist poles with some sort of basket/hat/flying saucer on top.

So its a trend for the area. I myself would like to see little statue silhouettes of go go girls on the poles.

Which airline is it advertising ?

Nong Prue Air.

Seriously the stripe on the side looks Thai but the tail fin livery doesn't. I been looking through aircraft tail liveries to try identify.

Understand that, but in this case there is something interesting, in that another tambon nearby appears to have bought much the same street furniture, albeit with different adornments, and the cost is around three thousand USD each.

Meanwhile in Samrong, in the same province, there are many lamp-posts that feature similar artwork but do not have the solar attachments. I wonder, as they used to say in Private Eye, if they could be related?

Not that I am against solar lamps in general.

They have their use where no wiring exists.

But look at this ugly forest of poles and existing wire.

And then adding more poles on both sides of the road with expensive solar lamps.

Finally calling it nice. It's dirt ugly!

What an important road is it that needs so much lighting?

Shady business, waste of money for sure.
