Twenty-four per cent of open-air markets inspected in Bangkok did not have adequate measures in place to reduce the spread of coronavirus, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said on Wednesday.

“Of the 379 markets inspected since May 24, 289 or 76 per cent passed the inspection but another 90 markets did not,” said Dr Apisamai Srirangsan, the CCSA’s deputy spokeswoman.

The inspection was introduced by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to curb the spread of Covid at these venues after various clusters were found at wet, dry and flea markets in the second and third waves.

When it rains here in north Bangkok, the guys checking temperatures and checking-in at the entrances are nowhere to be seen.

Apparently because the coloured stickers they put on every entrant won't stick to wet or damp clothes.
