dddave
I want to try the Hyaluronic Acid treatment for my knees. I have been relying on Cortisone for the last 3 years but the pain relief it offers starts diminishing during the 3rd month post injection. Cortisone can not be taken at intervals any shorter than 6 months apart as it can adversely effect bone density. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) does help many users so I'd like to try it but most forms require 3 separate injections over a 3 week period. Cost's can add-up to over B30,000 per knee. HYRUAN-1 is a fairly new (2017) form that only requires a single injection per knee. Bangkok Hosp. in Bangkok & Bangkok-Pattaya Hosp both offer it but total cost would be about B35,000 per knee. Online search showed several clinics in near Songkla in the South offering it a B15,000 per injection so clearly Bangkok Hosp is applying it's usual 100% mark-up on this medication. Any suggestions for regional hospitals or orthopedic clinics in the Bangkok or Chonbury area that I can contact to see if I can find a more affordable price? I really have no idea of how effective this treatment will be for me and how long the relief will last so B70,000 to try it out is pretty steep. pjmorton
I tried three injections of the older formula back in 2018. They didn't hurt, but they didn't help much either. I'm still hobbling around, getting my exercise entirely in the swimming pool. In my case I am scared to get a joint replacement because of a low tolerance for antibiotics, but I have known many people who have had good results from surgery that have endured for several years and are advertised to last for decades.
Puccini
Are you quite sure it is arthritis from which you are suffering in your knees. not arthrosis?

Lacessit
OP, have you had a competent diagnosis, supported by an X'ray or better yet an MRI? Pain relief that treats the symptoms and not the root cause will usually be a temporary solution, and may mask further damage.
Sheryl
They do not mark up 100% for this or anywhere near it; the drug is extremely expensive. Almost certainly what you saw advertised for Songkhla was an Indian made version rarther than the Thai made product. Whether it works as well, I can't say. Besides Hyruan, another single dose preparation used in Thailand is Synovisc One. Costs around 30k per knee. These are at best temporary measures and you may well need knee replacement sooner rather than later. Have you already tried physical therapy and (if indicated) weight loss? These two can do a lot. The best knee specialists in Thailand are: 1. Dr. Panya at Bumrungrad. https://www.bumrungrad.com/doctors/Panya-Wongpatimachai 2. Prof. Aree Tanavalee - at St Louis (Saturday afternoons), BNH Hospital (Saturday mornings) and Chulalongkorn. At Chula you may be able to see him via the after hours clinic but would have to go in person to make the appointment and there may be a wait list. https://saintlouis.wewyn.com/m/ORTHOPEDICS https://www.bnhhospital.com/find-doctor/search-result/?dname=Aree St Louis is less expensive than BNH I suggest you see one of these two specialist for a thorough evaluation before embarking on expensive treatments. They can give you a frank assessment of your odds of avoiding or postponing surgery and how much if any benefit these injections are likely to give you.
