The latest "Super Poll" suggests that the majority of Bangkok residents are happy with measures to "restore order" to the Thai capital.

In recent years the once blocked and bustling footpaths and sidewalks have been sanitized.

Vendors have been cleared off the streets and a greater sense of order has been returned.

Crackdowns on motorcyclists using the sidewalks have been enacted.

While many bemoan the passing of an era - when tourists were attracted by the confusion of Bangkok - the poll suggests residents are happy with the new order, happy to be able to walk down relatively clean streets once more.

In particular 94.7% were happy with developments to the above and below ground rail networks, the airports and their connectivity to up country services, reported Daily News

In recent years huge infrastructure developments have taken place in relation to transport. They cause major traffic woes but when completed are a boon for residents.

Over 80% of people polled all expressed approval for improvements to the sidewalks, crackdowns on motorcycle taxis, taxis, improvements in security and houses bordering klongs.

Even nearly three quarters approved of measures to address issues of homeless vagrants on the streets.

More than 90% suggested they were happy with the greater convenience in the city mentioning improved safety, cleanliness and lack of inequality.

However similar number suggested that the authorities and the people themselves should carry on the good fight to improve the city lest it fall back into old, familiar patterns.

The poll asked 1,059 people their views from June 5th to 12th.

12 million living in Bangkok...

I'd say either the person going round with the clipboard was a lazy bar steward or these voters have been cherry picked for the 'super poll'.

does NIDA have anything to do with it by any chance? ????

Inevitable when you have much of the 99% waiting on the next 'better' life or blaming their previous lives for their present hardships.  Mix in those that believe that offering food to trees, statues, rocks, etc. will somehow improve their income streams.
