Popular Post ThailandRyan
Looks like the recurring 2,000+ localized cases is continuing in it's "How long is a piece of string" trend. Its very disturbing to also see the walk in cases and the lack of actual testing outside of where the clusters are found or those in contact with them. So much for being transparent on the testing end of the spectrum. The vaccination program also appears to be having many issues with a lack of vaccines, cancelations of appointments, website issues for expats and non Thai's ie... migrant workers being able to get registered. No wonder many folks are hoping that their embassies get involved in assisting with vaccinating their citizens. Shambles to say the least. Unfortunately with the way this keeps moving, I can not even venture a guess if this wave will ever end, as to much is left to the imagination and abstract failures of this government. 12
Popular Post Danderman123
The bad news is there doesn't seem to be an end in sight for this wave of 2000+ cases a day. It is becoming more likely that only vaccination can put an end to it, and that could take months at the current rate. The good news is that the big numbers are confined to the Bangkok area.

Popular Post dinsdale
Some may say deaths have gone down others may say the goalposts have been moved i.e. classification of what is deemed a death from covid-19 has been changed. Being that there was suddenly an almost 50% reduction from a daily average of around 30 to what now seems a daily average of 18 I think the goalposts have been moved. Nothing has been given to explain such a drastic and large decrease in the numbers of daily deaths reported. There are still over 300 on respirators and if I remember correctly around 1600 in ICU(please correct me if I'm wrong with these numbers). These numbers have stayed resonably the same yet deaths have decreased 50%. This is my opinion but I just can't see how there can be such a dramatic decrease from one day to the next and now staying at this low number for 3 days. Tomorrow will be under 20. Something changed and as I previously stated if this was due to medical intervention we would have been told about it. There are a lot of people thinking the same thing and unfortunately with the CCSA not declaring how exactly they classify covid deaths then all we can do is look at the numbers and do the calculations, the sharp decrease in numbers of deaths despite the same or higher number of covid cases is confusing to say the least especially when the CCSA made this statement a few days ago: "Around two-thirds of Covid-19 patients possibly died due to non-communicable diseases and not Covid-19 itself" Transparency is essential and they still have not learned this basic fact.
Bkk Brian
Chaos and confusion as vaccination drive is left in disarray with no new doses supplied this week The government’s vaccination campaign, on Monday evening, appeared to have descended into chaos and acrimony after deliveries of vaccines to hospitals on Saturday failed to materialise sparking widespread anger. The breakdown in vaccine supplies was confirmed at a hastily convened press briefing at Government House reportedly ordered by Prime Minister Prayut Chan ocha and fronted by the National Security Council Secretary-general, General Natthapon Nakpanich, the Director-general of the Department of Disease Control, Dr Opas Karnkawinpong and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) Governor, Aswin Kwanmuang. https://www.thaiexaminer.com/thai-news-foreigners/2021/06/15/vaccination-drive-in-disarray-no-supplies/ 3

anchadian
Government in race against time after Delta variant shown to be more severe, more transmissible Thailand’s government is now in a race against time to fully vaccinate its population after the Delta variant of Covid-19 is shown to be more transmissible and more deadly in a new study. Research out of the United Kingdom on Monday found that the Delta variant, which was first identified in India, doubles the risk of hospitalization and is more transmissible than previous mutations. The study, which was carried out in Scotland, has been a cause for concern for public officials both in the United Kingdom and the United States due to its high transmission rate and severity. https://www.thaienquirer.com/28543/government-in-race-against-time-after-delta-variant-shown-to-be-more-severe-more-transmissible/ One important factor Thailand will have to consider is that one dose of AZ vaccine is not very effective against the Delta variant - yet Thailand is leaving 16 weeks between doses to try to stretch limited supply. That may have to change. https://twitter.com/pakhead/status/1404664072520364033 Other countries are now reducing time between AZ doses from 12 to 8 weeks. anchadian
King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, has again introduced new technology in the hope of raising Thailand’s healthcare capability. The items of technology invented by King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang together with King Mongkut Chaokhun Tahan Hospital Foundation included Thailand’s first ever Ai-operated detector able to detect a mutating Coronavirus. According to the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of KMITL, Dr. Anan Srikiatkhachorn, there are currently eight major coronavirus strains that are being monitored worldwide as they tend to mutate more than others, as well as being able to cause more severe symptoms. The detector will read the genome of the virus and report if there is a risk of mutation, so further medical techniques can be applied. https://www.facebook.com/nbtworld/posts/10158082912792050

If they do not reduce the time back downwards between doses then I personally believe that there will be even more cases where folks who had one vaccination are infected as it seems that AZ may not do much at all with the Delta variant until the second dose. However, if there is no AZ then they best be scrambling to shore up the vaccines they have and get more stocked and then get the vaccinations moving instead of in a state of stagnation.
