Covid testing.

It may depend on the hospital.  About 2 months ago I made an appointment to see a specialist at a major private hospital in Bangkok.  I was asked to fill about a form and have a COVID-19 test before seeing the specialist.  Things may have changed now.

Not required.  Me and the wife have had check ups more than a few times, every 3 months.  No test was ever required other than reading your temperature.

A couple of months ago I wasn't feeling that well.  My wife insisted I go to the hospital.  Once there they said I had a slight fever and admitting me for observation.  They tested me for quite a few things but not for Covid-19.

Save up for a Covid test in Samui !

I enquired today and it costs 5500 at International Hospital !

And 3250 at the public hospital at Na Thon.

Not a bad margin on a test that I heard costs 100 baht...

As stated NO. I had my annual physical at Bangkok Hospital 2 weeks ago. Just walk in.  I have a follow up in two weeks, again no problem for sure.

You're brave...and foolish...going to a hospital with the current clusters. Anything wrong with you that you just had to have an annual physical? Presumably, you're going back for lab results. Why not have them email them to you, and flag anything terribly amiss. Oh, right, they want to justify taking your money.

My hospital had the good sense to keep postponing appts, since January.

Not much help really, and given the way Thailand operates, what is good today, may not be good tomorrow. But the reason I ask is I don't like being forced into something, when all I want is my doctors appointment whether or not there is a raging pandemic outside.

Either way it is just a scam to charge upwards of 5K for a small test, if it comes to that, and I can't see how the hspitals will be able to resist that.

I don't know how reliable this news is, but I am told Chiang Rai municipal hospital is recommending you don't come in unless it is an emergency. They say with so many staff ( 34 is the number ) infected they can only offer 50% service.
