Delta variant in Thailand may replace Alpha in few months, says Medical Science Dept.

Medical Sciences Department Director-General Dr. Supakit Sirilak predicted that, in the next 2-3 months, the Delta (Indian) variant of COVID-19 may replace the Alpha (UK) strain as the dominant COVID-19 strain in Thailand, because it is 40% more transmissible than the Alpha variant.

PM aims to fully reopen Thailand in 4 months

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha declared today (Wednesday) that Thailand will fully reopen its borders within four months, as the country is to begin welcoming fully vaccinated foreign tourists, starting with the southern resort island of Phuket on July 1st.

Thailand on Thursday (June 17) reported 3,129 new COVID-19 cases and 30 additional deaths over the past 24 hours.

Pattaya: Mayor announces that City Hall have applied for 100,000 doses of Sinopharm from Chulabhorn Royal Academy

Manager reported that Pattaya's mayor Sontaya Khunplome was the latest local official to take advantage of rule changes that will allow local authorities to procure their own Covid-19 vaccines from sources like the Government Pharmaceutical Organisation and the Chulabhorn Royal Academy.

PHUKET: An oil spill washing up onto Phuket beaches as tar balls has now reached from Mai Khao Beach at the northern end of the island all the way to Nai Harn Beach at the southern end of Phuket’s west coast.

Unemployment remains a major issue during the COVID-19 pandemic. A number of public enterprises are helping out by hiring people, who have lost their job or income, and new graduates struggling to find employment. Many people are having to take temporary jobs, rather than wasting time being unemployed.
