Popular Post webfact
By Erich Parpart Doctors on Thursday slammed the government’s plan to reopen Thailand within the next 120 days. “To reopen while knowing that people inside the country have yet to comprehensively receive good vaccines is like climbing a mountain at night without a light,” Dr Thira Woratanarat, Chulalongkorn University’s professor of medicine, wrote on his social media page on Thursday. According to the Health Ministry’s Immunization Center, 4.95 million people have received their first dose as of June 15. Thailand’s population is 69 million. Popular Post BobinBKK
I think the "fully vaccinated tourists" have more to be worried about than the local population... There is no "quality" vaccine being offered for free in Thailand. Locals stand a better chance going to Uncle Tu Pu's grandmothers hut and swinging a dead chicken around in the air. The deep analogy should cut a swath across this governments vision as it makes it very plain to see how idiotic the PM is in his view. 14
Popular Post sapson
Tested less than 10% of the population over the last year and declared Thailand virtually free of covid! Now have vaccines plans only..... not reality for less than 30% and they want to open up the country. Sadly total negligence and the whole sorry bunch should be slammed right out of their fiasco of government!

Popular Post The Cipher
We keep hearing the opinions of folks trained as doctors about the response to Covid like it's solely an individual health issue. But could it maybe be that Covid is actually a mutlifacted big data problem that requires a nuanced response with complex tradeoffs? And perhaps that maximization of lives saved might actually not be the optimal macro response to the pandemic? ???? 3

Popular Post rasmus5150
I think the Thai government is hoping that US and many European countries will have finished vaccinating in 2 months. And then Thailand can receive an enormous amount of vaccines, and finish vaccinating in the remaining 2 months ???? 23 minutes ago, webfact said: “To reopen while knowing that people inside the country have yet to comprehensively receive good vaccines is like climbing a mountain at night without a light,” More like driving down a mountain, with no brakes.

About as useful as my non-existent first dose. Hm. I guess a piece of useful advice would be that while it is definitely a good idea to get vaccinated, there's no point worrying about it or letting it affect you on a day to day basis. It's easy to forget that "my immune system will handle it" is a valid response for ~99% of people who even catch Covid. There's some degree of risk to living a worthwhile life. Always has been. 5 1

Popular Post smedly
Thailand has made a total shambles of pretty much everything covid, those at the the top being more and more exposed as incompetant fools by the day. They are clutching at straws trying to cover up the mess they have made. So going forward what needs to happen 1. Put people in charge that know what they are doing 2. Get everyone in the country fully vaccinated with an Effective Vaccine 3. Dip into the huge claimed foreign reserves they are supposed to have and support the people with an effective furlough scheme for as long as it is needed. 4. Set out a plan for late 2022 that gradually opens up the country to foreign tourists without all the quarantine tracking testing nonsense Of course all the above depends on a lot of things with this virus and future mutations and vaccine efficacy going forward

Not sure we have a choice, short of getting on a plane while we can. Soon we won't be able to travel because we're unvaccinated or have the wrong vaccine, or have just one dose. But thank you for your sage advice. ???? 1

Popular Post poskat
there comes a point, which may have already been passed, where keeping out the people who account for at least 20% of the GDP, and the closures of other parts of the economy that people in the lower economic class depend on becomes more important than the number of people who die from covid. Its all well and good for the educated class and their work from home jobs whose salaries have remained intact, and the covid-associated lockdowns have been at worst an inconvenience, but for people who cant pay for basic life necessities, the situation is dire and more a matter of life and death than from covid itself. perhaps the government could spend more time trying to get any vaccine available worldwide in country, rather than limiting them to those that profit them. thailand being declared open while most of the population remains unvaccinated wont bring in the tourist dollars, pounds, or euros because no tourists will want to come here to be exposed to the dirty potentially virus-infected thai people 2 2

Unless you are 85 up, obese. a heavy smoker, heart conditions, cancer or generally unfit. Numbers below were up to June last year - clearly near 90% of deaths are people with other issues - which would mean if you are healthy you had 0.15 to 0.25 chance of death ! They do not want to be cast in that light and hate the government and those that keep them in power for putting them in that position, as the administration is effectively denying them the passport for a bill of clean health by deliberately ensuring that they will not be vaccinated.
