Popular Post dinsdale
South Korea seems to be debating full openning. Still concerned about daily infection numbers hovering in the 3-4 hundred mark but they think it's ok. Don't know what the medical community is saying there. 3K here is obviously ok according to the vacuous one, our great leader. Also in the news a Ugandan tests postive for covid in Tokoyo. Ok nothing suprising there except this person is an athlete there for the Olympics and is fully vaccinated with AZ.
Popular Post smedly
If the India variant (and others) really gain traction in Thailand which I think they will then based on what I seen reported from other countries - I am genuinely worried Up the creek without a paddle would best decribe it with little chance of getting any protection through an effective vaccine - this is really a very dire situation developing especially with the government more interested in tourism than the health of the nation They really need to rethink their priorities and fast - probably too late now 4

The Prison infections are down by over 400 or so from the previous few Days reported cases, which means there are more Community bases Infections. There also appears to be the start of more severe outbreaks that are not centered on Bangkok and its immediate vicinity. The Virus seems to be on the move ( literally ) across the Country, and if its Delta Variant ( Indian ) then the spread speed will increase. The next few Days of charts will tell a story for sure.
Popular Post phills2k1
I know it's beating a dead horse, but it's so astounding that a government that ONLY cares about enriching themselves would do everything they can for the short-term gain at the cost of destroying tourism, the true money-raiser, for years to come They clearly don't care what the doctors have to say about the risk to people's lives, but you have to figure that SOMEBODY was in there detailing what a major and never-ending outbreak would do to their pockets when tourism would be killed Right???

Bkk Brian
I do wonder how hospitals are currently coping with all the people wanting to get tested, we know they were struggling before and turning people away after they reached their daily limit and I do suspect that like the warning put out a few days ago when a Bangkok Hospital doctor was ordered to take down a facebook post about shortages of vaccines that a similar warning would also be issued if any hospitals said they were limiting tests. https://media.thaigov.go.th/uploads/public_img/source/210664.pdf Edited June 21, 2021 by Bkk Brian

bluedoc
Thailand logged 29 deaths and 3,175 new cases over a 24-hour period on Monday. Of the total cases, 2,089 were locals who tested positive in hospitals, 901 tested positive in proactive testing campaigns, 140 were found infected in prisons and 45 were arrivals from overseas so we see that proactive testing is only 900.what an utter disgrace. We see that it’s walk ins that are the major components of these figures.

Arkady
Hospitals were not able to cope when cases spiked up to 2,000 a day in April and seriously ill patients were left at home by hospitals lacking beds, resulting in at least one death. I am not sure how this situation was resolved but now we have got over 3,000 cases a day we are not hearing about lack of capacity. But, if we follow a similar trajectory to the UK, the Indian variant could become the predominate strain within a few weeks and cases could be ramping up to 8,000 a day, just like there. It could be worse because because of the low level of vaccination vs the UK and the the skewed priorioritisation of large company employees and families over the elderly and vulnerable who are more likely to require hospitalisation. Another serious concern is the unknown efficacy of Sinovac against the Indian variant. Most front line health workers have been vaccinated with Sinovac and may need to be revaccinated with something else, if there are significant infections of people who have been fully vaccinated with Sinovac.
