Popular Post AndyAndyAndy
I will be driving 14 hours down to Bangkok on Friday. So I was thinking maybe spending following weekend in Pattaya since I'm already down there? But is everything opened? Can I go to beaches, restaurants, bars? Is it a good idea?

Have you read where the clusters are? Suprise? I would go if not the family is in the Thai typical Covid panic. They would probably not let me go back home ???? For a short visit recommended. Enjoy the sunset at the beach on Jomtien, Paratumnak Soi 5, Sands Cafe e.g. There seem to be other excellent places in that area. Not even allowed to buy on the beach from the deck chair vendors. (don't rely on brown wrapper) Not even allowed to buy from shop and sit on the beach with it. Wearing no mask in public, drinking alcohol are THE money maker for starving police (no helmet-less tourists). They might do raids and sniff on the coffee cups. Very desperate. sharecropper
Re Jomtien alcohol and beaches - there were many Thai families and foreigners on the p*ss the whole way down Jomtien Beach Road tonight at sunset, but obviously bought at 7 11s. Seemed almost like business as usual. Edited June 22, 2021 by sharecropper
Caldera
Friends who went to Jomtien Beach last weekend posted photos and videos of drinking beer in their deck chairs. Not saying that's a wise thing to do, all I'm saying is that they didn't even see the need to hide their beer bottles. So yes, definitely quite relaxed.

Police are not enforcing regulations on the beach as you describe. I can manage without booze on the beach in the daytime hours but if you can't just be discrete. Some water parks and other tourist attractions are now open.

jacko45k
Blimey, where have you been Andy. You can go onto the beaches but not drink alcohol. Restaurants are allowed to be open but many have closed up shop...due to lack of business. No alcohol sales with meals. Bars are all closed... except a few pretending to be restaurants, and not permitted to serve alcohol. I would say only if you are bringing kids and can enjoy the beach or a hotel pool, and like to wander a Mall.

Bangkok is also a hotspot I doubt we'll come anywhere near you; we just plan to stay in the hotel and use the pool, eat in restaurants if we can find any that are open, hangout in Central Festival for an ice-cream or coffee and play on the beach. Is this OK?

Bangkok Barry
I believe it's okay to link to this short YouTube video: PATTAYA AT BREAKING POINT - THE HOMELESS START TO TAKE OVER EMPTY SHOP HAUSES - YouTube If not, I am sure the mods will let me know for future reference. Ask yourself whether you want to go to Pattaya, or stay in Bangkok this trip. 1
Stargeezr
Maybe Jomtien beach over the hill to the south of South Pattaya is the place to go. I have heard that there are a few restaurants still open. You can get some discrete drinks with alcohol included in colored glasses. Pack a lawn chair and set it up on the side walk near the street, to avoid the beach situation. Enjoy looking at the ocean from the street area, and relax your Bangkok stresses away. 555 Geezer

I usually pop into Big CX at weekend and may take a stroll down the 3rd Rd and Buakhao areas if feeling like a walk..... and I see similar (if not the damaged shophouses so much). And that is weekend, when there are a few visitors in their Bangkok plate cars.

I didn't bother with the video.
