Popular Post webfact
By Pear Maneechote A leading professor at Chulalongkorn University has come out this week to criticize the government for its continued obsession with acquiring Sinovac vaccines. The professor joined Thai Enquirer to outline her grievances, the same one she shares with millions of other Thais. It might not have been as clear in the beginning, but the inefficiency of this [Sinovac] vaccine has been reported in numerous, real-life cases from many countries, from Indonesia to Brazil, said Professor Siripan Nogsuan, an Associate Professor and the Head of the Department of Government, Faculty of Science at Chulalongkorn University. Professor Siripan told us the main question she has for the government is why they are still choosing Sinovac over other vaccine alternatives when it’s clear that it is more expensive and has a much lower efficacy rate? Popular Post sathornlover
It is good to know that there are still some brave people who dare to publicly question the obvious madness, but I think this statement is a bit exaggerated: “To be fair, Thailand’s healthcare system is top-notch; it is one of the world’s top ten,” she said … 6

Popular Post Osthos
She's right. If Thailand is going to be battling the Delta variant, then we have no actual data on how effective it is. As I posted elsewhere, both the Pfizer/Biontech and AZ vaccine are over 90% effective in preventing people from needing hospital treatment, as per a UK Government report yesterday. Could they not just for once make some decisions for the benefit of the people of Thailand in need rather than everything based on keeping their personal troughs overflowing? 4

It doesn't matter that it is less efficacious. It never mattered.

Popular Post Jajazazajaja
Deliberately misleading people “AstraZeneca is known to be over 90 per cent effective against hospitalization from the latest strain spreading throughout the globe, the Delta variant. Sinovac’s efficacy, on the other hand, is only at around 50” They compare the effectiveness against hospitalization for AZ against overall efficacy against Sinovac. Which makes no sense the data from Indonesia suggests that Sinovac is over 90% effective against hospitalization why don’t people actually read what’s in the article? 4 1

wensiensheng
Among other factors, expediency probably plays a part. It’s available within a fairly short time frame and contract negotiations maybe easier. this government is pretty last and doesn’t really have any long term plan, at least not that they have articulated.

Popular Post rudi49jr
This is a matter of prestige/face for China, they just want as many countries as possible to order and use their vaccine. So my bet is that they’re throwing around quite a bit of money as an ‘incentive’ to persuade the powers that be to order the vaccine. And we all know the one and only true god that the Thai generals and their cronies pray to.
