Officials from the Office of the Auditor-General (OAG) travel to the office of the disbanded Thai Rak Thai (TRT) party to seize assets and have them put onto the market for sale. The move followed after the the Constitution tribunal’s dissolution verdict.

The officials have brought trucks and pick-up trucks to transport the properties estimated at about 1.3 million baht. Most of the properties are durable articles and office accessories.

The PPP'ers must be feeling nostalgic to have all their own office supplies back.

Anyway, PPP will lose the elections (not win a 50% majority) to what Ando called "elite and their military lakeys".

Nice to see your own predictions come true, even if some people claim it to be a big win.

On the downside, PPP will form the government (still maybe) but due to the electoral loss it will be rendered toothless by their coaltion partners.

Auction Completed on Assets of Defunct-Thai Rak Thai

The first two days of auction for the assets of the dissolved Thai Rak Thai Party generated more than five million baht in revenue. The earnings from the auction will be returned to the Election Commission and spent toward the party's debt payment. *how beautifully poetic*

After the Constitutional Tribunal ruled to dissolve the Thai Rak Thai Party last year and ordered the Office of the Auditor General or OAG to examine its assets, the agency has discovered that the disbanded group held cash and book accounts totalling 1.14 million baht.

The group also has debts of 600,000 baht and an overall debt of 11 million baht, much more than its overall earnings. Nearly 800 items, worth about 4 million baht, are now on auction. Most items are office equipment such as telephones, fax machines, VCD players, and projectors.

The lowest price at the auction was 10 baht for calculators, and the items that recorded the highest price were the party's two six-wheel trucks, set at 450,000 baht each.

The People Power Party wanted the six-wheel trucks due to their use for election campaigning and mobile meetings, but the vehicles went to the owner of a wood processing factory. *how very beautifully poetic*

Among the auctioned assets was the assets inside the library at the Thai Rak Thai's headquarters, which the party spent 20 million baht on, but it sold for only 2.5 million baht, *how typically TRT... spent high with very litttle return* while its Phraphumi shrine sold for 5,000 baht.

An OAG staff member revealed that the auction also included the assets of the New Aspiration and Chart Pattana parties, which dissolved themselves to join Thai Rak Thai.

The first auction of the Thai Rak Thai's assets was lively, as a crowd of people, including its staunch supporters registered to join the activity from 8:30am.

About 2.8 million baht was generated in the auction, with some 300 items sold, and 2.5 million baht was earned on the second day of the auction.

As for the unsold assets such as projectors, the OAG will set new standard prices before they go on further auction. The overall earnings from the auction will be provided to the AC Matchbox Company, the Thai Rak Thai Party's largest creditor and the fund for political party development of the Election Commission.

Thammarak, Pongsak face criminal charges

The National Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC) plans to press charges against former TRT party executives Gen Thammarak Isarangkura and Pongsak Raktapongpaisal. NCCC commissioner Vicha Mahakhun said yesterday that the two could face criminal charges for corruption and for intervening in the work of an independent agency, namely the Election Commission. The Constitution Tribunal on May 30 ordered that the Thai Rak Thai party be disbanded for committing electoral fraud. Former deputy party leader Gen Thammarak and former deputy party secretary-general Pongsak are allegedly connected to bribing election officer Amornwit Suwanpha. Mr Amornwit is accused of adding 61 members of the little-known Pattana Chart Thai party to the Election Commission's database so that they could contest in the April 2 election that was held last year.
