Insurgents burn school in Yala

(BangkokPost.com) - Southern rebels set fire to a school in Yala early Wednesday and intimidated villagers into letting it burn, leaving more than 200 students with no place to study.

The two-storey Ban Tohpagae school in Raman district was set ablaze at around 3 a.m., police said.

One border patrol policeman injured in Yala bomb attack

Yala - A border patrol policeman was slightly injured Thursday morning when Muslim insurgents detonated a bomb buried at the area where his teacher protect unit stopped to pick up teachers.

The explosion occurred at 7:20 am on the Ban Niang-Yaha Road in Tambon Yalat of Yala district.

A unit of five police man parked their pick-up truck at the same location to wait for teachers to escort them to school and shortly later the explosion occurred.
