Sojourner
For those like me who may be out of the loop, effective 14 June '04, the public service hours have changed for the American Consulate in Chiang Mai. Quote; Mondays: Visa applications only: 8:30-11:00 Tuesdays: American Citizen Services: 8:30-11:00 (Full Service); 13:00-15:30 (Limited Service*). Wednesdays: Visa applications only: 8:30-11:00 Thursdays: American Citizen Services: 8:30-11:00 (Full Service); 13:00-15:30 (Limited Service*). Fridays: Emergencys only: (call 053-252-629, ext. 2104) *Limited Service- the Consulate is open during these hours for American Citizens to pick up tax/voting forms, passports, benefit checks and to make general inquiries. They're serious about Mondays and Wednesdays being for visa applications only and you will be turned away if you have any other business.

KevinN
and even with the short hours they are open for business, you get to deal with someone that speaks English on a beginners level as the Americans that are attached are out playing golf or enjoying the other perks paid by the American tax payer. Why didn't I listen to Dad and go into foreign service, instead of the foreign legion
