NTC, CAT and Public Health Ministry expanding telecommunication and public health services

The National Telecommunication Commission of Thailand (NTC), in collaboration with CAT Telecom Public Company Limited and the Ministry of Public Health, brought medical equipments to Phang Nga province to treat people in rural areas. The medical equipments will then be given to a new clinic in Muang district of Phang Nga, and the clinic will be officially opened on July 1st.

Mr. Suchart Suchartwetchapum, the NTC member, says the NTC has set a policy to expand the telecommunication services nationwide since 2005, and the licensed telecommunication operators will have to provide adequate public phones in villages, clinics, education institutes and religious areas. Mr. Suchart says the project is also being applied in public health works. Mr. Suchart says the NTC has an objective for public members to be able to use telecommunication services in all areas. He says the NTC is focused on quality of its services more than its profits.

Meanwhile, CAT Telecom is setting up a new clinic in remote areas of Phang Nga province, and doctors at the clinic will be able to communicate with hospitals with higher capabilities for consultations with the help of telecommunication technology.
