Pollution Control Dept. inspects smog situation in Satun

The Pollution Control Department dispatches mobile units to inspect the quality of air in Satun Province due to smog coming from Indonesia on a yearly basis especially in June to July.

Officials from the Pollution Control Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment have dispatched mobile units with vehicles equipped with air quality inspection at the City Hall of Satun Province. The mobile units will measure dust particles from the smog and will warn the residents if the amount of dust exceeds the acceptable level.

Deputy Governor of Satun Thanwakhom Khemasiri (ธันวาคม เขมะศิริ) reveals that the smog is caused by forest fires in Indonesia’s Sumatra Island and the Southwestern monsoon will carry the smog with it to Thailand. Residents in the province are affected by the smog every year.

The deputy governor affirms the province is ready to tackle the smog situation and reports that the Pollution Control Department has sent more mobile units for the air pollution inspection to Trang Province.
