kwiz117
Alongkorn Lauwatthana Seriously speaking, he is not specialises in Buddhist arts. But some of his works do have some Buddhist elements. See the attached image http://www.rama9art.org/alongkorn/works.html ===== Sompop Budtarad has made more contemporary Buddhist arts. I have collected a few postcards of his works, like this: http://www.siamese-dream.com/greeting_card...py_of_naga.html 'Traditional Buddhist techniques and symbols merge with a distinctly Western freedom of expression to create an artistic hybrid that is both East and West, past and present.'--Magic Blend mangazine issue 28 His bio is in here: http://www.iklektik.com/thaiart/sompop/ An exhibition of him: http://www.rama9art.org/artisan/2001/septe...er/publish.html This site has some very good Buddhist desktop screens with a few works of Sompop Budtarad, and works of other artists: http://zen.dvdesign.com/vol_07.shtml ==== A few other contemporary Thai Buddhist artists (I also have collected a few postcards of their works): Songdej Thipthong http://www.gongdee-japan.com/cw-songdej.htm http://www.rama9art.org/artisan/2001/may/p...ts/article.html http://www.ganeshart.com/Songdej/index.html Pornchai Jaima http://www.absolutearts.com/portfolios/p/ploykh/ http://www.ganeshart.com/Pornchai/index.html http://www.bangkokpost.net/chiangmai/peopl...3_people01.html Panya Vijinthansarn's http://www.iklektik.com/thaiart/panya/index.htm Source : http://www.lioncity.net/buddhism/index.php?showtopic=
sabaijai
I'm a fan of Alongkorn Lauwatthana's and Songdej Thipthong's work. I didn't know the others, glad to get those links. Another favourite of mine is Surasit Saokong, who teaches at Rajamangkala Tech in Chiang Mai. He's famous for his candle-lit scenes of monastic life in Thailand. Surasit Last year the Chiang Mai Univ Art & Cultural Hall put on "Thai Spiritual Ties," an excellent exhibition of contemporary Buddhist art by 13 accomplished Thai artists from Northern Thailand and Bangkok. chanchao
Let me add the link to the pictures I put up yesterday. They're of temple murals, but VERY different from the usual style. Pretty amazing actually: http://sukstalker.fotopages.com/?entry=152777 (Same link as I posted in another topic here yesterday) Cheers, Chanchao
