Bangkok University poll reveals PM's dwindling popularity

The Research Institute of Bangkok University reports that the Prime Minister's popularity has decreased in the last 9 months.

Bangkok University's Research Institute conducted an opinion survey on public perception of the Prime Minister's performance in the last 9 months on 1,258 people living in Bangkok and surrounding provinces from June 29-July 4. Researchers found that the majority of respondents rated that government and Prime Minister Gen Surayud Chulanont's performance at 4.32 on a scale of 10, a decreased from the past 3 months by 0.21 points.

3.49 percent of respondents believed the government's performance has deteriorated, 14.5 percent of respondents believed that the government's performance has improved, 31.6 percent of respondents believe performance remained the same, while 19 percent of respondents declined to express their opinion. Political figures who respondents believed conducted the best work include Prime Minister Gen Surayud Chulanont, Minister of Public Health MD Mongkol Na Songkhla (มงคล ณ สงขลา), and Minister of Tourism and Sports Suvit Yodmanee (สุวิทย์ ยอดมณี )

Political figures which respondent rated as having the worst performance include Minister to the Prime Minister's Office Theerapat Serirangsan (ธีรภัทร์ เสรีรังสรรค์ ), Minister of Transport Admiral Theera Howcharoen (ธีระ ห้าวเจริญ ), and Minister of Defense Gen Boonroth Somatas (บุญรอด สมทัศน์).
