sbk
STUDENT DEATH / UNIVERSITY FINANCES Late loan 'not cause of suicide' WICHIT CHANTANUSORNSIRI The Student Loans Fund (SLF) has insisted that the suicide of a university student in Nakhon Si Thammarat had nothing to with delays in the disbursement of loans. SLF manager Thada Martin said he sent a fact-finding team to the southern province after learning of the death of Saovapa Prachum, a fourth-year student of Rajabhat Nakhon Si Thammarat University's business administration faculty. An initial inquiry found that her suicide was not due to financial problems. The student's family said they believed Saovapa's declining grades might have driven her to take her own life, he said. Saovapa, 23, hanged herself at a rented house in Nakhon Si Thammarat's Muang district on July 29. see the Bangkok Post for the rest of the article here
