Islamic education centers in Satun transferred to Education Ministry

The Cabinet approves the transfer of the Islamic education and morality centers in Satun province and four districts in Songkhla province to the Ministry of Education in order to help resolve the Southern conflict.

Government Spokesman Yongyuth Mayalarp (ยงยุทธ มัยลาภ) reveals that the Islamic education and morality centers were formerly supervised by the Department of Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Culture. After the centers have been transferred to the Ministry of Education, wages of the instructors will be raised as they are paid 4,000 a year at present. In addition, the Cabinet agreed to change the name of the centers to “Tadika”.

At present, there are 1,619 Tadika centers, 5,014 instructors, and 171,364 students in the three Southern border provinces.
