glr29 Posted August 17, 2004 Share Posted August 17, 2004 My personal opinion is that there are already too many supermarkets and convenience stores in Udon Thani. It seems that this is the most popular type of business that people seem to want to open, maybe because it's relatively easy. Just buy a few boxes of food etc, put a sign up outside and hey presto your ready for business. However I may be wrong, if your girlfriends land is in a good location with no other stores around then it may be good idea. Don't be surprised in the future if other people follow suit and copy your idea. Then before you know it your street will be full of mini supermarkets all competing for business. Udon Thani has a large selection of supermarkets, there is one Tesco Lotus, Big C, Tops supermarket, Mackro, Top World and 1,000's of 7-11's, not to mentions the millions of privalty owned mini stores. So bear in mind that there is so much competition. Good luck anyway and let us know how things go. Then they all bitch that they make no money. All has already been said about length of time you have known girlfriend. Had a German guy round my house recently, my wife to interperate, he was shocked when Momma to be said she wanted 50,000 baht dowery AND a 5 baht gold necklace.
