Actually the link to this topic is already in the pinned Chiangmai Information topic but have now separated it out. Thanks. That makes it easier to find. These are all taken on a one day trip from Chiang Mai... You can still see the price tag on the old lady's reading glasses. I guess she never thought you could remove it. It usually comes around the time of my birthday. The gals all dress up in beautiful silk clothing and the lanterns fill the sky... Of course, those with property nearby don't like all the dead lanterns that land on their place later... And, I'm sure there is more than one fire started by an errant lantern going astray. The angles are all correct and the curving road sort of tells a story. Did you scan the photos off slide film or off old negatives? There is always a difference between scanned film and digital. This is the same place in Koh Samui where the "Gramma rock" and "Grampa rock" are tourist attractions... This is what she looks like today, with the photo taken at Koh Larn. In my shot, taken near Phrao is a small village with not too many places to fish and socialize, so it is a 'group' activity more than the standard 'alone' activity. They are just pictures of local sites with not particulary interesting lighting or dynamic composition. However, I did like these photos of a temple in Kanchanaburi and Ratchaburi. I must say it was a really nice time, I liked the place a lot and it was great to see somewhere other than Bangkok or the usual resort places I seem to end up all the time, nice people too. Makes one realise that there is more to Thailand than work in Bangkok or quick breaks to Cha am, Phuket et al. I know its no work of art but here is a pic for the collection. There is so much there to see it's difficult to say, 1) Doi Suthep ( Important temple on the mountain) 2) Old City, within the ruined walls - no need for a guide just walk and explore it's fantastic. 3) Night Bazzar - a bit touristy but worth a look ( I have just realised I cannot spell bazzar!) 4) (no experience) Flight of the gibbon - never heard a bad report but have not done it yet. 5) Muay Thai - in Loi Kroi Road and Moon Muang road - I think the later is the real deal 6) Bars & clubs - if you are youngish Nimmahinan road - if a little bit older Loi Kroi road. thats a starter for you.... tons more when you arrive! have fun Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
