sylviex
I will probably have a septoplasty to correct a deviated septum which causes breathing problems. (Had one some years back, but seems to have "relapsed"). I was thinking that while I am on the op. table, I might have some minor cosmetic refinement of the nose done, too. I hear this is quite common. I am guessing that a cosmetic surgeon can cope with the septoplasty ( it's fairly routine ). My questions : (i) Know of any cosmetic surgeons in Chiang Mai who could cope with this ? If Bangkok, how long would I need to stay there before travelling back to CM ? And, again, which surgeons are recommended for such an op. ? (ii) How do I go about this - see an ENT surgeon and take the report to the cosmetic surgeon ? (iii) Any other considerations/comments/ suggestions ? Thanks, all.
Sheryl
Your best bet is an ENT specialist who is also qualified in plastics, there are some in Bkk. Look through this thread: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?sh...t=0&start=0 Good luck
Ijustwannateach
Don't envy you- had one of those some years ago and the few days after are not pleasant. I seem to recall reading somewhere that actually combining plastic surgery in this way can be a bit risky? Not sure, but you probably want to consider the options carefully. sylviex
Thanks for the replies. ijwt : I hadn't heard that the combination was especially risky, but I will certainly bear that in mind. Has anyone had septoplasty or septoplasty plus rhinopasty done in Thailand ?
sylviex
One place I contacted - (PAI)Preecha Aesthetic Institute - replied thus : "We do Rhinoplasty. But What is Septoplasty?"
jackoneilone
What i recommend is to go to ENT specialist and get a scope up in your nose and find exactly the spots deviated and any other issues that you may have obviously have records of it all and maybe a recording of the scope session. Then go to an excellent surgeon and get it done. Many people combine septoplasty and rhinoplasty procedures since your nose is open anyway! Preecha is a good skilled surgeon but whoever replied to your email was obviously lacking in knowledge and maybe some new lady or something. You would have no issues with the actual doctor. However I would recommend somyos kunachak as its his speciality. Poomee is also an option at bumrungrad but avoid all the other doctors. And make sure you are specific in your goals and what you want and make sure you clearly point out what you want done.

Yes, evidently an office helper answering the emails. Amused that s/he didn't ask a medical person or check a dictionary but instead asked the potential client . technocracy
ARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH is what springs to mind when people mention Septoplasty!!! I had it done about 15 years ago and the recovery after was horrible - I guess rebreaking my nose whilst I still have the splint in didn't help! But when the removed the splints . . . . I've never felt pain like it - felt like someone had just ripped the front of my brain out the through my nose! But even back then they did a bit of rhinoplasty to put my nose back in shape - as one of my nasal passages had bone growing across the passage so they had to drill a new hole. Whilst they were at it they reshaped my bust up nose and I came out with a straight and no longer wide bridge! Which was nice! I don't know if they've improved the surgery used so it is less intrusive but I woke up feeling and looking like been smack across the face with a cricket bat, blood everywhere! jackoneilone
the more intrusive the procedures the more pain and blood loss to be expected. that is life and cant avoid it. pain is also dependant on each indiviuals tolerance levels and pain meds on. for many having a septoplasty means no more real extra pain than a rhino but does mean more bruising swelling longer healing more and longer tender/sensitive to touch etc
LazyCat
my husband needs this op to be done as well I am afraid it's going to hurt a lot and he will be in pain after the op... I wonder where should we go for the best result, he doesn't need much plastic result but he has same case as technocracy it has to be done since he can't breath normally and it affects him during his sleep and also he gets a lot of headaches because of this.... We do not have insurance that will cover this op so the cost is also very important as well at the result, so if any of you had it done in Bangkok please suggest where to go for best value for money... Look you want the best you pay for it. You want excellent surgeon at cheaper price you can find them too. In your husbands case if he doesnt want any physical plastic changes then he needs to see an ENT ear nose throat specialist if he wants plastic surgery and to fix those problems too and cheap then go to Yanhee. Even cheaper are the public hospitals but im guessing your not thai. An experienced plastic surgeon can fix his plastic issues and fix his functional issues too and make sure to CLEAR AND CLEAN the sinuses so he doesnt get headaches anymore. I am not thai but I do speak thai and I know that some of the doctors in ENT in Bamrungrad they also have a practice in other places... anyhow I do understand that health is not something you save your money on but I would like to have a reasonable priced procedure from a qualified surgeon rather than overpaying for posh facilities. 5971
I have been advised by a doctor at BNH to have Septoplasty to help with breathing through the nose. It's been a few months since this thread was added to. Anyone out there have any updated experiences?
