klikster
Can anyone recommend a contract furniture manufacturer in the Bangkok area who is savvy enough to do a responsibe quote and stick to it, offer a competitive price, and produce commercial quality work in small lots .. and who will produce one-off prototypes? It's a complicated contraption to explain, but involves a ruggedized wood or steel framework (it's wall mounted), then pressboard and vernier, or possibly formica. Some simple upholstry is involved as well. If the item tests well, we would probably buy 24 units per order for awhile then consider setting up a small operation. What you are asking for seems to involve allot of specialized inside knowledge so really anyone that would know this info would be a possible competitor. I remember there was a couple of furniture makers in the oh nut area. One of them for sure was on oh nut soi 46 about half way down the soi on the right hand side, they had allot of staff, I remmebr them all comming out for lunch every day. It was mass invasion of green t-shirts all hitting the som tham stand. Also the other factories in and around that area had outlet stores along the oh nut road maybe pop in there and ask them. This was all about 5 years ago so I am not sure if they are still there but it maybe worth a try. If no luck in Bangkok try chang mai it may be a better choice for you in the long run even if the geography is not good for you at the moment. Good luck and tell us how you get on.
