cali4995
In what continues to be a frequent occurence, yet another foreigner appears to have gotten into trouble with the locals and ends up at the hospital unconcious. It's getting hard to explain all of these away as bad behavior under drink. The medical bills alone for all this specialist care must be absolutely horrific. Source: pattayacitynews ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Foreigner beaten unconscious in Soi Beokeow. In the early hours of Wednesday Morning, Police Captain Witayaya from Pattaya Police Station made his way to the Pattaya Memorial Hospital to investigate the aftermath of an assault on a foreigner which took place in Soi Beokeow. The foreign man, who was carrying no forms of identification was picked-up by Sawang Boriboon Rescue Workers and was in an unconscious state. He had sustained a head injury and cuts to his mouth, consistent with an assault. Two Thai men were known to have assaulted the unknown foreigner, however further details regarding the attack were not forthcoming. He was later transferred to Chonburi Hospital for more specialist care. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Related photos on foreigner in hospital on this link below but the title has been mislabeled as a different motorbike accident story. http://www.pattayacitynews.net/news_12_03_51_2.html Edited March 12, 2008 by cali4995
kurgen
If he turns out to be English then no doubt he got what he deserved and should be deported by being chained to a baht bus and dragged by the feet to the airport. But..... if he was a fine upstanding chap from any where else in the world then I'm sure you'll all agree that the BIB should arrange a firing squad and shoot all Brit's to stop this type of mistaken identity attack happening again. Where will all this stop? No privacy, no consideration. This is really gutter journalism.
Kerryd
Is this the same incident already mentioned in another thread (a couple of topics down from this one) ? English Man Badly Beaten In Soi Beokeow (BTW- the Pattaya City News links (here and on their site) go to the story about the Koh Larn moto accident, not to this incident). This is getting out of hand . How can we stop this type of thing happening so frequently? Do we need to set up vigilanty groups (bassball bats and full mask helmets etc.)? sweetchariot
Is this the same incident already mentioned in another thread (a couple of topics down from this one) ?English Man Badly Beaten In Soi Beokeow (BTW- the Pattaya City News links (here and on their site) go to the story about the Koh Larn moto accident, not to this incident). No that was last month, and he got battered with rocks. This guy doesn't look too damaged, and we all know what the Thai's can do when they want to hurt someone. Maybe more comotose through alcohol than unconscious? Yes I know we need more details before jumping to conclusions.

Whenever anyone gets beaten up on Soi Beukhaew they get taken to Memorial, maybe they are sending out hitsquads on quiet evenings to boost trade! BTW when I showed this to the missus she said that the guy looked a bit like me (although you can't really see him properly). For anyone who knows me it wasn't - you will have to try harder next time
Kerryd
For anyone who knows me it wasn't - you will have to try harder next time As the British chap said to the Argentinian (during a footie match in Croatia back in 92/93): "Sorry Mate, I missed you (but my aim is improving)"

cali4995
I'm at a loss to explain it myself. There's a lot of people in town at the moment, mostly Russian tourists by the sound of the language but they seem to be happy enough people and they also usually bring their own dates. People everywhere. There do appear to be strange happenings in soi buakaow. Ordinarily, walking through there you don't feel a hint of danger. But these people keep ending up at hospital and Yes, the news crew is always there with the cameras aren't they?

I think it might be that Soi Bukakki has lost so many long staying impecunious visa runners, who used to keep the place afloat, that new business practices are being employed up there to (a) vent frustrations and ( make money with Memorial Hospital backhanders. Or not. It also depends how pissed you are and at what time you are staggering around the soi I suspect. Robski
This is really gutter journalism. Hardly surprising for a town that is a gutter. Not exactly lifestyles of the rich and famous in soi buakaow.

Unfortunately violent crime does occur; it is hardly surprising, considering, that in the early hours drunken farang pick fights with anyone catching their gaze.
