Tot Internet

Tried to move heaven and earth to sign up with TOT's adsl promo package, but nobody at the local office had a clue!

It has been asked a lot before on Thaivisa if the quality of TOT's offer was decent, but evidently it's so difficult to sign up with them there hasn't been any replies to those questions!

I ended up with signing up Ji-net's compax service on a TT&T number (I have both TT&T and TOT numbers in my office) because I, nor my Thai staff managed to even get adsl activated on the TOT line!

In the end I'm happy with what I have now, but it's still not perfect, keep a dial-up package handy if you depend on internet access!

Have had 1 down period of around 10 hours on Ji-net in the 3 weeks I have it, otherwise it performs as advertised(256/128 with a drop of around 20% during peak hours)

I would say we have had major improvements in internet access in the last couple of months, just let hope they can keep up with it all :o

I'm using TOT internet service since 2 months. Sometimes slow, but what can You expect for 3 Baht for 2 hours. For e mailing and reading newspapers it's okay.

I contacted TOT service center, gave them my phone number, they gave me username and password and 2 minutes later I was on line.

In July I bought 100 hours Sanook KSC and with that package I got a FREE 100 hours Sanook KSC (modem #1222 to use on my other TOT line).

No wonder it was free... I was able to connect only once around 1 AM. I disconnected because I couldn't even open one site. Terrible connection... and I don't think I'll be able to use those 100 free hours...

Astral, l had the misfortune of using the free 1222 TOT internet the other night.

The little meter that usually clicks over at around 4000-5000 bytes a second on my home dial-up was registering only 300-400 bytes a second at best. :o

I know you shouldn't complain about something that's free, but.....

Can you get internet access with UBC?

If so, anyone have any comments on it, good or bad?

Can't see getting anything faster living here (Samui)

other than the free net. I don't know when they will be

introducing ADSL for home usage down here. :o

I know you shouldn't complain about something that's free, but.....

When it works it is fine, BUT

I am promised a 3 hour connection window, but 1222 just dies and then disconnects me much quicker than that.

When I try to reconnect it tells me it cannot find my ISP.

It is not free. I still have to pay my ISP and another 3 baht for each reconnection, in some cases several times an hour!!

Here is my log so far this month.
