The roundabout road around the Heroines Monument in Phuket is planned to be widened from 3 lanes to 5 lanes to enable better traffic flow. The Deputy Phuket Governor Worapote Ratasrima said the local government of Srisunthorn, the Phuket Provincial Administration Organization and the Highway are working together and that it is in a design stage. The president of Srisunthorn Administration Organization, Thamrong Tantiwatchakul stated that it plans to provide some parking spaces and have a zebra crossing to facilitate people who pay homage to the monument which is located in the middle of the road. He also countered the idea to build an overpass saying that it is not appropriate as it would be higher than the monument which is respected by many locals.
