Restaurants In Ban Chang / Rayong

Recommended Posts

They've started stripping out the Camel today.

Edit.

Maybe the Mormon church can take it over and use it as a meeting place and Hostel.

^Saw that earlier. As a former regular there since it opened, it made me a bit wistful, tbh. Oh well, thanks for the memories.

If they are stripping it out, maybe another bar/restaurant/hotel

In all honesty I don't think BC has a big enough customer base to support the number of bars/restaurant directly aiming at expat customers.

The Camel ( deceased ) I think consists of 3 original shop houses banged into one and bought/rented from 3 different owners.

Trying to run another business there would mean a whole lot of work trying to sort out who is prepared to sell/buy what and how much building work is required to reinstate dividing walls utilities etc etc.

Nightmare.

Today just drove past the ex Italian restaurant, ex clock restaurant, which became a sabu sishy (check spelling) type restaurant. Its closed with a for sale or rent sign outside.

As on another thread maybe the only way to succeed in the catering business is a bamboo hut on rented land. But then again the robin hood failed in Ban Chang.

Might be way of course here but the places that seem to last generally don't need to make a profit or at least a big profit. They appear to be 'something to do' for want of a better expression. If they generate a few thousand baht a month after bills and wages that's ok.

Maybe that's what's meant in BanChang as a 'profitable business'  ??

Not much chance of that, tbh.?

However, as the Camel was the only non-girlie attendant pub / bar on the Strip, you now have no excuses (to the missus) for being up there anymore..?

"I'm just in the Camel, dear" now not applicable.

The ‘strip’ does not even exist in my wife’s eyes ! Many detours have been had to avoid that road as there is no girly streets in ban Chang don’t you know ?

It’s just to keep the missis working and out of the hair or she will be in your business and sitting around all day ! It’s another form of babysitting .

That place is far too expensive with their rent, a killer for most small business.

With places like Hey Mom, Location Garden, and a few others where you can get a big San Mig for 90 baht it is difficult for the strip to justify charging almost the same for a small one!!

Drive along the bypass road between the Payoon and Phala traffic lights around 10 pm any night of the week and you will see where the action is, mostly geared towards the locals but now many foreigners with their better halfs frequenting there too, great places to eat, Euro, Seki Sushi, Long Time, Yurak, entertainment with Fifty Five, Hey Mom, La Luan, to name but a few.....that area is like a city on it's own in the evenings!!!

BTW, Seki Sushi has some fantastic deals on right now!!

On the other side of the coin you have Chase Beer, all imported beers and ales, nothing under 250 Bhat and guess what......full every night with locals!!!

Maybe just us foreigners that are poor!!! ??

Bang on as when I’m in ban Chang it’s where I’m normally at . Live music with decent food . It’s the part of ban Chang that I really love . You tend to get Thais with decent enough jobs in them .

Hi everyone! I am new in Rayong and will be here for 4 months for work here. May I know where is the nice place for drinks and maybe with company of girl? I am currently staying at around Rayong Central near to Tesco Lotus, thus prefer somewhere around the area.

Many thanks in advance!
