Charma
Try these guys: http://www.northernmonk.co.uk/home/ They are UK based, but can get a website up very quickly for £
rishi
A Chiang Mai based webdesigner? - Some of my friends were quite pleased with the work of this guy: http://www.satiariyan.com His fees are reasonable and both they and his solutions custom tailored to needs and specifications. It probably won't be difficulty to get things done cheaper if that's an issue, though.

unomi
well, if you get a graphic artist to do up mockups of the pages that you want and describe the functionality that you need. I can turn them into webpages for you, ajax, database, simple content management system, multilingual, seo friendly all that jazz. pm me with details if you are interested in reasonable prices and quick delivery of a product that 'just works'. whiterussian
Oy! I was here first! p.s: I do graphic design work also Edited October 30, 2008 by UKWEBPRO
unomi
heh, thats fine. I do graphic work as well, just I am quite busy these days and it is relatively timeconsuming in terms of client interaction. Realizing a design can often be quicker than the design work itself and it can be relatively easy and cheap to get graphic work done locally. I would suggest that if you haven't done so yet, you should send the dude a pm with outlines of what functionality you can offer at which prices. Make it easy for him to decide on you rather than waste more time on looking at alternatives. All the best.

whiterussian
For anyone else considering a website built in Thailand. I asked my estate agent how much his website cost - it has maybe 100 properties - searchable, sortable etc, nice graphics. The cost was: 10,000 thb. Any farang that pays over this to a Thai designer/developer is being ripped off, in my opinion, unless its way more advanced than a property/shopping cart/ecommerce website. For a normal, non database driven website i would guess the cost would be half this. 5,000 thb. Im guessing hosting costs and domain registration not included. These can be purchased for less that $80 a year. The hardest bit of webdesign/dev is getting the website how the client wants it, not how the developer wants it. You want it pink, with purple words? - you got it What i suggest to clients is to go and look at website you like the look of, and do not limit it to the same niche as you are in, - a camera website with good layout, navigation can easily be converted to a property website etc. I worked in finance/legal website dev for 10 years now. I used to ask clients to tell me what they wanted. Always the bloody same. guy in a suit, shaking hands. or cheesy models grimacing into the screen. But then just how sexy can you make Sue, Grabbit & Run Attorneys at Law ? I should never have turned down that x-rated developer job!

Hosting at $30/year for instance is easy to find and you can register .COM domain for less than $10 (one free domain is often included in various hosting packages, even the cheap ones). whiterussian
$30/year ?? where? does it have full support? Nothing worse than these providers that lure you in, only to find you have to upgrade to use decent scripts etc. yes, looking at my provider (at the moment) it has an option for 3 years at $5 a month. Paying one month at time is $9. I have a $9 a month acct, with free hosting for unlimited domains. It has everything you could need built in. Except SSL for extra. Also more importantly is has shell access which means i can run UNIX commands, and code properly. Handy when you have files 2 gigabytes+ in size and you need to extract data. My Dual core PC struggles to open these files in Windows! At the end of the day, the point is, its dirt cheap. give or take $40 Edited November 1, 2008 by UKWEBPRO

Bandwidth is limited, but largely sufficient for most small and middle-sized companies. No problem with any script so far. You can't host porn nor warez websites though. whiterussian
Thanks! not bad, not bad. But I am in love with my new host. Real 24 hr support ( unlike the UK's pipex - which is ring for 30mins after 1am to wake the techie up). Access via every method you need, can run any scripts, free backups, shell access for wget/curl . etc etc.. everything! I havent found a fault yet. The yanks are still ahead of the crowd imo. see: hostgator webhost Anyway, id better not give away too many tricks of the trade!!! Goyave
Here's another one even cheaper, but I haven't worked with them. I just mention it for your information: http://www.webhostgiant.com/single_domain_...ux/economy.html By the way, you can test the support even before signing anywhere, asking whether or not your most complex / specific scripts will work there. I've done that (because I also have noticed that you are limited in your coding with many packages) with several hosting companies prior to choosing ServersAndDomains (for small and medium websites, I also use another one - more expensive - for other needs). Several companies offer a 30-day money back guarantee which should be enough time to test your scripts.

Sorry, WebHostGiant is a little bit more expensive than ServersAndDomains (with not much differences between the cheapest offers). Low budgets may consider for instance MK10Hosting - their starter package seems to be a really good deal, considering its price and the monthly bandwidth allowed. But I don't know them either, so, it's not a recommendation, but just for your information again.
CroBiker
i can help UKWEBPRO, 3 questions: How good are you with flash sites? Would you deal with any client regardless of their location in Thailand? Do you have a website or can you show us some sites you recently created? PM me with answers if you please. Thanks. whiterussian
Hello CroBiker, yes i can do Flash, but im not great. Can hack into it though, and basic stuff like this one i just hacked: http://tinyurl.com/5c2rmp yes anywhere at all. Will PM tomorrow after work. I need to rebuild my portfolio, after a 2 year gap here in the LoS. All i have to show from the last 2 years is Nerdy stuff, stuff that is in testing. hence will 'beat any price'. Will have a (pretty) showcase website together in a week or two, a new local company in CM. hopefully. This is a built for adsense website im playing with: http://www.citygroup.asia/country/Thailand...ui_1606595.html 6 mill+ pages - not meant to look good, hence lack of a homepage! its just a numbers thing, keywords in 20+ languages. Im playing with google search engine. Learnt a lot from this experiment. Like: the first 60,000 pages you submit to google are the most important!!! However, i may tart it up with some flash , and new buttons etc.. for now, google is indexing it 24/7 ... has been for a few months!!! it can only index 4,000 pages a day max! Im just getting myself into google, then at some point i will tart up the homepage for a purpose. ( im not sure what yet!) whiterussian
wow, that sucks. Almost as if someone up there doesnt want me to show the website! Thought i would speed up my website a touch, and deleted a file by mistake. Now i have to find the backup file, on my laptop... which is the other side of town. sod it. tomorrow. whiterussian
Yay! im back online: Rijeka Hotels and Places of Interest - Croatia all i need to do now, is reformat the pages, convert to DIV's for 50% speed increase. optimize databases add live currency lookups from this : http://www.citygroup.asia/currencyrates.html and then at some point, make a home page, make some pretty graphics, and some flash... Allowing a 3rd person access to my code may lead to problems. Hence I want to know the person is accountable if there's a problem. Plus it's a lot easier to explain ideas face-to-face with a note pad and pencil. Edited May 22, 2009 by Loaded
