Police yesterday arrested a house-painter for cutting off the penises of two teenagers he suspected of stealing Bt50,000 from his home, police said.

Police arrested Manit Srimathamtan, 40, for deliberately mutilating the two boys, aged 14 and 15, and detaining them against their will for three days while he interrogated them about the theft, said Captain Pat Maiuthet of Talad Plu police station.

Manit on Thursday allegedly chopped off the ear of one of the boys, who still denied stealing the money, and then in a fit of anger cut off both boys' penises and threw them in a nearby canal.

Tipped off by neighbours who heard the boys' cries for help, police arrived at the scene near Wat Mai Yai Nui and rushed the boys to Bangkok Police Hospital.

Manit said the boys deserved what he did to them because they repaid his kindness to them with the theft of Bt50,000 he had been saving to get a job abroad.

A search of Manit's home netted a knife, scissors and razors.

Manit was forced to re-enact the gruesome crime at his home in Thon Buri. The suspect said the two boys lived with him until he threw them out after discovering that they had stolen Bt130. Last Friday, he found his ATM card and Bt1,000 missing from his pocket.

A check with the Bank of Ayudhaya's Nong Khaem branch revealed that his account had been emptied.

He filed a complaint against the boys at Talad Plu police station on Monday after the bank showed him closed-circuit TV footage of a Siam Commercial Bank ATM in the Wuttakat area which showed the two boys withdrawing the money.

Manit said he later lured the boys to his house, where he persuaded one boy to go out on an errand and then tied the other up with wire. When the first boy came back, he tied him up as well.

The father of one of the boys admitted his son had behavioural problems and had been suspended from school. He said he was aware that after running away from home the boy had gone to live with Manit.

One of the boys apologised for stealing the money and said he bore Manit no grudge.

The penises could not be recovered.

CRIME / GRISLY ACT OF REVENGE

Theft suspects' sex organs cut off

MANOP THIP-OSOT

Manit: What I did befitted their crime - KOSOL NAKACHOL

An angry painter cut off the sex organs and earlobes of two teenage boys he accused of stealing more than 50,000 baht from him in Talat Phlu district of Bangkok on Thursday.

The grisly revelation came after one of the boys, Jareh Nomai, 15, was found staggering about near Wat Mai Yai Nui School, wearing a pair of blood-soaked shorts.

The boy was taken to Suan Phlu police station where he asked police to rescue his friend, Kitti Udonpool, 14, locked in a house owned by a man identified as Manit Simathammatharn, 40.

Police found Mr Kitti and took the two boys to the Police General Hospital.

Police said Mr Manit admitted severing the boys' penises and earlobes in a fit of rage after they allegedly stole his money.

He claimed he took the boys in, gave them a place to stay and fed them. Later, he discovered the boys had stolen 130 baht and he told them to leave his house.

On Nov 12, he woke up to find another 1,000 baht had gone missing along with his ATM card. He checked with the bank and was told 50,000 baht had been withdrawn via the ATM from his personal account.

Mr Manit said he filed a police complaint. He also found evidence from the bank that the boys had made the ATM withdrawal of 50,000 baht.

Mr Manit said he tricked the boys into coming back to his house by inventing a story that the real thief had been caught. The boys returned on Nov 17 and he asked Mr Kitti to buy him some glue, leaving him alone with Mr Jareh in the house.

He persuaded Mr Jareh to handcuff himself to prove his innocence, and put the boy in a room. When Mr Kitti came back with the glue, Mr Manit locked him up too.

Mr Manit said he decided to cut off Mr Jareh's left earlobe before severing Mr Kitti's penis. He then thought the dissection was out of balance and cut off Mr Jareh's penis as well. He threatened the boys to confess to the theft or their organs would never be re-attached.

Mr Manit gagged the boys whose painful cries alerted the neighbours. He then threw the severed organs into a canal near Wat Mai Yai Nui temple. He insisted what he did to the boys befitted their crime.

''There's nothing they deserved more for stealing the money I saved,'' he said. He was saving to pay for an overseas holiday. He also planned to press theft charges against the teenagers.

Charoen Nomai, 41, Mr Jareh's father, said his ninth-grader son faced suspension from school because he skipped classes often. Mr Jareh ran away last week and Mr Charoen said he was aware his son had spent time at Mr Manit's house.

Pol Col Sucheep Penkitti, superintendent of Suan Phlu police, said police had arrested Mr Manit and seized as evidence a knife, a pair of scissors and two razors.

Mr Manit was charged with assault endangering life, torture and unlawful confinement.

this is a horrible and chilling story , that seems to highlight some of the many shortcomings of society these days.

delinquent kids thrown out of school with no provision made for remedial treatment and left to their own devices , parents who show little interest in the welfare of their children , bank staff who amazingly allow a customer to view security footage , police who after being told about the theft fail to locate the kids and a vindictive psychopath who uses razors and scissors to torture and mutilate the kids.

lets hope the surgeons can do something for the boys and the fellow inmates can do something for the psycho.

That s the most horrible thing.

Boys of 14 15 are not adults

though there is enormous pressure on them to early on integrate the adult world,

and because of the good example of the government

people take justice in their own hands now and anything goes

I wonder if it gives him back his 50 000 thb.

I hope the criminal gets killed in prison.

The saddest thing is that, these guys are scarred for life life. This jerk will get 10-15 years and then go on to lead a normal life. This guy should be punished to the full extent of the law, there are no mitigating circumstances. Not even his confession!

Having read the above article in the Sunday Bangkok Post, I couldn't help the following thought entering my mind.......

Kill [by multiple gunshots, and running down with an automobile] flee, then evade arrest for a few weeks, and once arrested you are able to be released on Bail. After all the farangs would probably have committed suicide in any event after that altercation.......

but now we can see where the real values lie in the Thai Judicial System....

Dis-organ-ize and mutilate two male individuals, [house guests ?] and perhaps loose 50,000 Baht, and do not do the natural thing and flee, [read "normal" or "usual"] like some other alledgedly more responsible individuals might; submit to arrest and you naturally are denied bail ??????? :o:D

I think "amazing Thailand" is much more accurate and descriptive.

Another thought from the here-after...... [must cut back on the medication]

When you now check into and are boarding an aircraft will they now be searching for a

"Penis Cutter"

I know that

"Box Cutters"

have been banned for some time , but is this just some ERA type plan to even things out on the search process ?

or

Is a penis cutter really a box cutter ?????? :o

Thai news on TV and newspapers show everything! It's a beauty (ugliness) of the Thai press. This really reflexes on how most Thais want to see what is actually happened. Those two teens are just another example of this sick society.

I used to predict about Thai society 3 weeks ago on this forum that people know nothing about what is right and what is wrong. I was right!

So sad.

No bail for slasher

A house painter detained for severing two teenage boys' penises last week as payback after the boys stole Bt50,000 from him was denied bail yesterday.

Police from Talad Plu police station escorted Manit Srimathamtan, 40, asked the court for an order to detain him for 12 days while they finish their investigation. They said they have yet to interview a further eight witnesses and analyse seized assets, fingerprints and other evidence. - According to the police report, the man lured the boys to his house and cut off their penises and one boy's left ear in a fit of rage after seeing a CCTV video that showed them withdrawing money using the man's stolen ATM card.

He claimed that Bt50,000 was taken, and later confessed to maiming the two teens and holding them against their will for three days.

I think there's more to the story, here.

1. How did the boys get the card?

2. How did the boys get the PIN number?

3. What was the deal with the living arrangements? Two young teenage boys with an older single man with plenty enough money to attract a wife?

4. What had happened to the families in all this mess?
