There's No Such Thing As 'white' Politics, says Trt

BANGKOK, Nov 21 (TNA) - The Thai Rak Thai (TRT) Party yesterday reacted angrily to the suggestion of a leading academic that next year's general election would involve 'grey politics', saying that nowhere in the world were politics one hundred percent 'white'.

Mr. Theerayut Boonmee, a lecturer from Thammasat University, incensed the party with his forecast that the upcoming general election would not fulfil the aims of political reformers, and would represent 'grey politics'.

Responding to his comments, TRT Spokesman Suranant Vejajiva spoke of his party's commitment to grassroots development and putting the people at the centre of politics.

"If you're speaking of grey politics, you have to remember that in the past, politics were completely black. Political reform has led to politics becoming greyer, from black to dark grey. Over the past four years, in which Thai Rak Thai has been in office, we have continually poured white into the black. Today politics is almost light grey", he said.

"But there's no-one who can make one hundred percent pure whiteness, whatever their aims. I concede that we're not one hundred percent white", he said, adding that a completely 'white' political climate was a utopian one beyond the reach of ordinary mortals.

He also dismissed suggestions that the next four years of TRT government would be four years of risk and cheating, describing these comments as 'one-sided pessimism'.

Noting that the party had entered Thai politics during an era of political change, he warned that the party would be unable to make further changes unless re-elected early next year. (TNA)--E006

This is just a rehash of the standard children's refrain "He did it first..."

Why are these people so incapable of aspiring to "white"ness? Why can they not at least say they are going to try to improve things?

I suppose their definition of honesty is an admission of dishonesty!

Sorry, feeling somewhat jaded today!
