britmaveric
For all those who own an Ipod Video - how large are the movie files when you convert say a 2hr movie to watch on your ipod? Avg movie converted from DVD is around 3gb, assuming due to the smaller size - must be significantly less. :usnure:

dave_boo
Cheers for the info.. smaller than I thought. Just out of curiosity, what are you using to convert your dvd's? If you're not using Handbrake (downloadable here), you're doing yourself a disfavour, even though it has a French domain . I'd recommend using the following CLI (I'm a Linux fan, forgive me!) options; they won't break Quicktime and they're extremely good looking results: ref=3:mixed-refs=1:bframes=3:b-rdo=1:bime=1:weightb=1:subme=6:trellis=1:analyse=all:8x8dct=1:vbv-maxrate=25000 You can also change the built in preset for the iphone settings using the above recommend changes. britmaveric
Considering the itouch and hadn't bought it yet, just wanted to know how many movies might be realistic on one of these. DVD Cloner has ipod software that converts movies to the ipod. However if freebie version works easy enough I'll give it a go.

Also, it has had multi-threading optimised, so that if you're rocking more than one core on your CPU you'll see significant performance gains. anotheruser
You can't beat visualhub or handbrake if you use a Mac. A typical video is about 700 MB. OH forgot to say the free version of visualhub is isquint. Edited October 13, 2008 by anotheruser
