samuibeachcomber Posted November 17, 2008 Share Posted November 17, 2008 I would think controlling the amount drugs/drinks someone has if they have reformed would be very diificult to do,so probably abstinense would be the only way to go.Many people have addictive genes and its difficult to stop with just one or two. If you are serious about giving up booze or drugs you are or will be doing a 12 step program. All alcoholics have tried to control their drinking and failed miserably. garro Posted November 22, 2008 Share Posted November 22, 2008 Personally, I found controlled drinking to be unworkable. It just felt like torture to stop after a few drinks. I could never do it for long. Life is great without alcohol and for me controlled drinking would be almost as unbearable an existence as full-blown drunkeness.
