In the early hours of Sunday Morning, Pattaya Police received an urgent call to attend the scene of an assault and attempted rape at an apartment block in Soi 13 off the Pattaya Third Road.

At the scene, rescue workers attended to an injured woman, Khun Wannisa aged 22 who was discovered lying naked in the communal bathroom on the third floor of the block.

She had sustained a knife wound to her upper body and a blood stained knife used in the attack was on the floor close to the victim. She was taken to Hospital where she gave full details of the alleged attacker who was in fact her neighbor.

A search for Khun Sarayut aged 26, who lives with his wife, Khun Srithong aged 26, began.

He was known to have attempted to enter other rooms within the complex in the past.

Eventually the suspect returned to his home after initially fleeing the scene and was arrested by Police who were waiting outside.

Khun Sarayut initially denied allegations of assault and attempted rape and when caught he was repteadly attacked by his Wife at the scene and later at Pattaya Police Station.

We understand the pair were living together, however their relationship was effectively over and she was providing a place for him to stay until he could find alternative accommodation.

Khun Sarayut was charged with attempted rape and attempted murder and is now on remand awaiting a court appearance.

but he was still allowed to stay there :o

That's only because he confessed to those crimes, so the Police let him go. If he had challenged those charges and pleaded innocence, he would still be in jail awaiting a trial.
