Several injured as stressed teenager goes on rampage

KAMPHAENG PHET: -- A teenager was called in for police questioning yesterday following a spate of violent stone-throwing attacks on vehicles passing along a road in Thailand's northern province of Kamphaeng Phet, in which several villagers, police officers and local administrative officials have been injured.

Mr. Samart Khamla, 19, is accused of having unleashed a wave of terror on the province's motorists since late November.

On 23 November, a motorcyclist passing along the Baan Na Bo Kham-Baan Pang Khanun Road was attacked by large stones, which caused the motorcycle to topple over and the motorcyclist to break his right arm.

Two days later, a police sergeant was injured on the cheek in a similar incident.

On 27 November, Mr. Sithichai Lanong, the deputy chief administrative officer of the Na Bo Kham tambon administrative organization, received nine stitches on his forehead after his windshield was smashed in, and on the same day a similar incident saw a local resident with a broken finger and 10 stitches on his face.

After a couple of week's respite, the litany of attacks resumed on 12 December, when a resident of tambon Klong Mae Lai said that a masked motorcyclist had thrown a stone at his windshield.

One passenger was hospitalized after receiving extensive facial injuries.

Yesterday police arrested Mr. Samart along with two bloodied stones weighing almost one kilogram each.

The teenager, better known as 'Yo', confessed to having carried out the attacks, saying that he was suffering from stress due to a lack of maternal love stemming from early childhood.

Describing the attacks as a form of emotional release, he said that after attacking motorists he felt considerably calmer.

"he was suffering from stress due to a lack of maternal love stemming from early childhood."

In my homecountry this sentence alone will make sure he will never do any time or pay a hefty fine, it will bring out a few hundred social workers that have (want) to take care of him.

That's in keeping with the classic symptoms of a borderline personality disorder.

Ain't no borderline about that, sir! :D

Sorry, psychiatric terminology, not of my own design...... :o

Didn't Ted Bundy have those problems as well?

A pity all he wanted to do was bash people's heads with rocks.

He had so much potential! :o:D

Amazing

19 years old and to have the knowledge to come up with such a defence as this story ..... Shows a couple of things in my opinion

* must have stolen the story from a recent Thai Soap Opera

* must not be close to borderline, for if he had any brains would have gone over

the border and not been apprehended.. shows low level of intelligence

* May now be considered for perhaps a Nobel Prize for environmental protection

for his consideration in recyling .of natural resources.... using the same rocks

over again as opposed to soiling and sully ing new ones

* Or perhaps high level police or political office
