chiang mai
MY English wife is stuck in the UK went back for two weeks. She is thinking about flying to Kula lumpur and getting the train to Thailand any other way???? London KL is probably the best although London/Singapore could also be an option. From KL you could consider a second flight to Penang which at least gets you closer to the Thai border but suspect it may be a train/bus job from there onwards. Unsure if there are direct flights from KL/Penang to Phuket/Chiang Mai but worth checking. Most likely there are flights from KL to Had Yai. PhilHarries
She might want to look at hooking up with one of the airlines flying into Chiang Mai or maybe those flights out of Utapao the return leg may be empty or bookable. Problem will be that they will be booked solid by now. I'd say KL or Singapore then road/rail to Bangkok is her best option but again they must be getting well booked up by now.
