Court postpones hearing on human kidney theft

BANGKOK: -- The Criminal Court today postponed a hearing on one of the most grizzly cases in the Thai medical history, in which a hospital director and his cronies stand accused of murdering patients in order to steal their kidneys.

The court decided to postpone the hearing until 22 February next year, citing the complexity of the information involved and the need for further legal consultation.

Dr. Siroj Kanchanapanjaphol, the former director of Vachiraprakarn Hospital in Samut Prakan Province on the outskirts of Bangkok, stands accused along with Dr. Veeradech Lertdamronglak and Dr. Wiwat Tiraphanich of murder, while former hospital manager Mr. Nanthawit Thongchai has been accused of producing counterfeit documents.

On 25 April 2002, Mr. Nanthawit was said to have produced fake organ donor certificates for Miss Ladda Deeyotha and Mrs. Nang Nongpromma without their consent.

The three doctors then removed their kidneys, and the patients subsequently died. The organs were then sold.

The four defendants, who arrived at the Criminal Court this morning with a huge number of supporters, today refused to talk to the media.

The most sinister thing about this case is that it is not an isolated incident of one psychopathic doctor. It is premeditated, organized murder for profit by doctors and high-ranking hospital staff. It is a violation of the most sacred and profound tenets of the medical profession, commited by the upper echelons of that profession, and a hospital. Truly amazing.

It is funny.. the greedy MDs from Cork Soaker U .. did not pay off the necessary people at the ministry of PUBIC health..and the families.. this is why this got PR..

the dept of the abuses and crimes ranging from over inflated drug pricing...to body parts....for sale on the market...to my personal favorite to charging a patient's billing account.. while the patient expired at least 2 years past ... is particularily clever..

The CSs will walk.. like the lastest ministers from the MOPH... the ones who, absconded with funds..and the Thai people will continue to take in up the butt... ala from CSU PR PRN

MAL practice suits.. only for the rich and corrupt...

Funny.. do you find this happing in the south.. :o
