Perhaps not the best place to announce this, but some of you will be saddened to know that Max Brown ex Aussie Consul / Lotushall in Chiangmai & Lampang died several days ago in Southern Laos.

The info that I have is that Buddhist prayers will be held at Wat Chantawan in Lampang in the evenings from Dec 15 – 22. The funeral service & cremation will take place at on Thursday 23rd at 1.00 pm at the Try Luck crematorium in Lampang.

Max was a great bloke and sincere friend to many people in North Thailand.

For many years he was a rock solid and dependable guy for a lot of us in Chiang Mai, I for one will miss him deeply.

I worked with Max at Mae Moh during the mid 1980s, but lost touch with him around 15 years ago.

By an incredible coincidence, I found an old (20 years) business card for Max today and on an offchance, Googled his name, and found your sad post. What were the circumstances of his death? (if it's something that you can report on an open forum). Otherwise, I wouldn't mind receiving a PM.

RIP Max
