Yup, i,m still smoke free! you can buy Quomen/Zyban at Boots chemist 1,500 baht.... i only used 3/4 of the box...

3 months after 20 years or more...thanks to the little tables, EFT and some strong will power...

I still think about cigs once or twice per day but now i just smile and look out over my balcony...they are not urges just memories..

However, i remember the massive urges and they smash you emotionally, but i read somewhere about letting the feeling over come you and embrace it and let it do its business...don't fight it.... this is what i did and it worked....

don't fight the urge...ask it to come on do your best and then it will subside....

anyway, i can recommend the Quomen tablets from Boots and no prescription required but they are kept behind the counter...

other things...i play badminton and my stamina has increased so much more...no more chest pains....after a hard match my recovery times are much faster and when i do weight lifting now i can do enough reps till my muscles collapse not because my lungs don't have enough oxygen...

but, still spitting pleghm in the morning with little black flecks, i am assuming this is tar coming from lungs... a long way to go to heal them...

stop smoking..

take tablets, use all resources available on the internet, EFT, repeat little mantras, remember each strong urge only lasts a few minutes...do something else when they happen....

good luck all...

I'll be in Pattaya next month and i'd like to buy a 3 month course of Champix, do youy need an appointment at BKK Pattaya hospital or is it a walk in type of clinic?

I know it's a bit cheeky but if i need an appointment could someone be kind enough to supply a contact number on here, i have looked on the hospital website but can't find anything useful?

no visit to hospital needed, no script needed, walk in any pharmacy and they are happy to sell.

I have not smoked over 3 months, not a single cigarette. First 2 months are difficult. Champix made it easier at the very beginning..

after a month or so I got terrible urges to smoke, especially at moments when angry.. and while driving. and when simply sitting in a coffee shop.. everything associates with smoking. I think this is highly individual, but after 3-4 months it gets easier. Still, it is f''king difficult, Champix or not.

I am currently using it, I had it prescibed from Bumrungrad.

4,250 B for a five week supply...but the course is 3 months.

I can't answer your question as to if its availavle over the counter, but at least its IS available, and the cost really does not matter if it works.

I have been on them for 9 days.......its got to the stage now where I feel physically sick if I smoke a cigarette...which is good.

However its taken me quite a while to get to this point, some can get there sooner, as I was a 40 a day guy, its taking me longer.

I really hope its works

Well unfortunatley the side effects for me were too much, but I understand that they work well for some folk. I tried again and purchased a 3 month course recently.

I still have five packs left (ten weeks worth). If anyone wants to buy them at a knockdown price they are welcome.

I have the receipt from the Doctor which proves they are genuine, and the cost I paid. Much less than I paid at Bumrungrad, 10,200B for 6 packs.

I am willing to let them go for 5,700B

Pm me if you are interested.

I am going to advertise them in clasifieds and on other websites as I want to get rid as soon as possible

I tried Quomen for a month. Even though it says you keep smoking for about a week I just thought I would quit immediately to see how long I could last. After a couple days just the remaining taste of cigarette in my mouth was so foul that I couldn't imagine smoking another one. I lasted about 2 months without a cigarette.

I used up one full box (on month), but was so confident of myself I didn't buy another one. After about 2 more weeks I started to get the urge to smoke again, I think part of it was just boredom as well. I convinced myself that it was so easy to quit with Quomen that it wouldn't hurt to have a ciggy now an then. The next thing you know I'm smoking a pack a day again.

I think you probably have to remain on the drug for at least 3 to 5 months to get over the MENTAL HABIT. Quomen definitely resolves the ADDICTION to nicotine because while on the drug I had no desire to smoke, it even makes smoking repulsive.

Anyway I'm trying it again, but I'll remain on the drug for a longer period. I found the cheapest place to get it is at the pharmacy around the corner from Nana, beside the service station. It's 1,800 baht for a box of 60, or one month's supply. That's the best price I've seen so far; most pharmacy's charge 2,500.

I never experienced any bad side effects that others have mentioned. As a matter of fact it kinda' picked me up a bit. I suppose that's the anti-depressant effect kicking in, that it was actually designed for in the first place. So if you don't quit smoking at least you'll fail happily.

I think that Champix is not the same drug as zyban/quomen

You are correct of course they are not the same drug. I was attempting very poorly to state they basically do a similar job in curbing the cravings.

I am now on day 10 of taking quomem but i had my last smoke 4th September so according to the instructions it should be today i quit but this is my 4 th day.

Yesterday was hard and i had a lot of deep deep cravings but i spent alot of time researching quitting smoking on the internet and came across some videos on you tube about

EFT ! for quitting smoking..... its crazy and funny but works ! it helped me no end yesterday through the biggest hardest waves of cravings...

Its basically tapping acupuncture points on your body while repeating a little mantra and embracing your problem instead of fighting it...

It may not be conventional but with the aid of quomem and EFT yesterday was okay(actually it was pretty intense but today it feels like it was okay!!)...My goal is only for today....see what happens..

Champix and Zyban/Quomem are totally different and have a totally different physiological and psychological effect. I tried Zyban back in the day and felt it made me flushed, dizzy and also lost some equilibrium during physical work, i.e. light headedness. It got to the point that on a hot day at work I thought I was suffering from heat exhaustion and and to sit down and take a time out. Also, it didnt really do any kind of job reducing my cravings.

Champix, on the other hand, was a miracle cure that totally reduced my dependence on cigarettes and had side effects that were both manageable and mild. Thats not to say it won't affect people in a more serious fashion, there are documented cases of people becoming suicidal whilst under the influence of the drug. But, lets be honest, isnt smoking itself a form of suicide? Personally I had some mild sleeplessness and crazy dreams but I kind of like weird dreams anyway. I stopped for 4 years but recently fell off the horse so started them again. Been off them 6 months. Its kind of like flicking a switch. I fully recommend them but be mindful of some mental side effects.

Sorry guys but WHY? do you have to buy drugs to give up smoking, i smoked for many years and one day i said to myself these things are killing me and costing me a fortune to do it, so i gave up straight away, no patches, no drugs, just WILL POWER, if you want to give up you can, the people who say it ia TOO HARD, then they DO NOT want to give up.

GOOD LUCK to all you genuine people who want to kick this disgusting HABIT.

....if you want to give up you can, the people who say it ia TOO HARD, then they DO NOT want to give up....

Actually no, that is not at all true.

People are wired differently and some are more susceptible top addiiction.

Nicotine is a highly addictive substance and the majority of smokers have great difficulty quitting.

Will power is of course important but the fact that you found it easy to quit does not mean it will be the same for others. On the contrary, you are most unusual.

Several irate/flaming replies to the above post have been deleted.
