Legal situation

Recommended Posts

I used to be employed by a leading organisation in Bangkok where I had a work permit and full legal status. I was invited to accept a position at a competing organization and I accepted their invitiation. Before accepting the position, I was given a clear (albeit verbal) assurance that a work permit and visa would be provided. To cut a very long story short, after four months working with this new company I have been told that it is impossible for them to obtain a work permit for me.

Is there any law against this? I have a family here in Thailand and this company has jeopardised my situation through lies. Do I have any legal recourse in Thailand? I am very interested on knowing whether companies here are able to just say what they need to say in order to get people to work for them.

Look forward to any replies.
