markt Posted September 3, 2003 Share Posted September 3, 2003 My wife, then g/f, came over on a tourist visa. Dead easy to get. Really the UK embassy only wanted to know if she had a job and would she still have one to come back to. But this is not a good way to get her into the UK for settlement. We had a tough time (and rightly so) going through the process of getting ILR. I believe the Brits have made this even tougher now. If you go for a fiance visa then make sure you have a job! I know it sounds daft but having a job, no matter how good/bad, means more to the embassy staff then "having money, but no job".
