It is believed that the victim was killed and purposely beheaded and his head was hung from the Rama 8 Bridge. The latest reports revealed that the Deputy Prime Minister has ordered officers to follow the case closely and look into influential people both domestically and internationally. Today, Police Lieutenant-General Utcharat Hemtanont, investigating officer of Bavornmongkol Police Station, revealed that since the discovery of the human head on Rama 8 Bridge yesterday, the police have sent the head to be identified at Siriraj Hospital. At the moment, the investigation unit of the Metropolitan Police 7 is also conducting an investigation to determine the identity of the victim by cooperating with the Foreign Affairs Division, the Immigration Bureau, as well as the neighborhood where foreigners live in order to find out the victim's identity. Police Lieutenant-General Utcharat added that the murderer must have planned the beheading ahead of time. The murderer seemed to be adept at using a sharp weapon and cut the victim's head off out of anger and then hung the head in public. The police will also conduct investigations regarding the message that was left at the crime scene to solve the murder. Moreover, the police have contacted the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to ask for footage from the two closed circuit cameras on the bridge and will watch to see if there has been any suspicious activity on the bridge in the last eight hours. It has been reported that the cameras are surveillance cameras and the BMA's cameras are being fixed. However, officers have been sent out to ask around in tourist areas such as guesthouses on Khao San Road and in Nana area whether any foreigners have gone missing. The latest reports revealed that Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban has been notified about the murder and has ordered officers to follow the case closely and look into influential people both domestically and internationally. Also, the police have sought cooperation from the public on this case. How long until the BIB roll out a suspect. Normally by now some high ranking sleuth has solved the crime and someone is paraded around on the 6pm news. It may well be that Khunying Porntip might actually have something useful to do in the next couple of days. Hope they don't put the re-enactment on the TV. Seems to me no need to bag yourself, the rope would have strangled him if it didn't first break his neck. Anyways, surely forensics can tell how long the man has been dead - meaning if it was assisted decapitation and then placed on the bridge or he just jumped as you say. sad story either way. rediculous comment from the official as someone else already pointed out. You would think it would be pretty obvious if the head was either cut from the body or ripped. But the police have already ruled out suicide so who knows?? I remember reading somewhere that hangmen have to calculate the length of the rope (and hence the fall) quite accurately to prevent decapitation when hanging. The heavier the body, the shorter the rope required. A 5m rope would be far too long and would likely lead to decapitation, and by some freak of circumstance, the head and Puma bag remained attached.
