sbk Posted March 7, 2009 Share Posted March 7, 2009 Thailand: Drought to be tackled in four southern provincesSource: Royal Thai Goverment Date: 05 Mar 2009 The Surat Thani Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office has prepared to establish a special command center to assist drought-affected residents in four southern provinces. Director of the Surat Thani Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office Wanchai Chaowanapanja today (March 5) expressed readiness to set up a special command center for preventing and tackling drought problems. He elaborated that the center would be designated to observe drought situation in affected areas, collect useful data, and coordinate with relevant organizations with the main objective to provide assistance to local residents in 4 southern provinces of Thailand, consisting of Surat Thani, Chumphon, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Phatthalung.
