I wish it was that easy for everyone. I seem to be the only british female wanting my Thai husband to come to the UK. ninja999uk Posted December 22, 2009 Share Posted December 22, 2009 Just thought I would let everyone know. We have just received a Fiancee visa for the UK. It took 5 working days from submission to collecting the passport!! The only down side is we put 30th Jan 2010 as a travel date. ridgydidge Posted December 22, 2009 Share Posted December 22, 2009 wow seems the embassy is back to the turn around times we enjoyed back in 2003/2004 when we applied for my husbands SV. Great news for all those applying now but super frustrating I'd imagine for those who endured the 11+ weeks of waiting that was average for applications in early 2009. The waiting is over!!!!!!!!!!! Finally the embassy phoned to say my wife's visa decision has been overturned!!! Thanks for eveyones help and support, it's been a long 6 months. Good Luck to eveyone else still waiting. DWALDO Posted December 23, 2009 Share Posted December 23, 2009 I had a phone call this morning from Guernsey Immigration to tell me that my stepson's settlement visa has been approved. They told me they have emailed the Embassy to tell them and the embassy will call my wife's sister to tell her she can pick up his passport. I hope they will do that tomorrow so I will know if they've put a departure date on his visa. We applied on the 9th of October so it has been longer than a lot of others have had to wait recently but the result was a great Christmas present. Good luck to everyone else who's waiting, now the times have come down hopefully they will stay that way. I just wanted to thank everyone who has posted on here all 107 pages I have read them all and I know that when I was waiting for my wifes visa to come through that this was the always the first and last thing I would check everyday as just reading this and knowing that I was not the only one going through the agony and then joy of a visa application was areal comfort and help, the information and support given on here is priceless. I hope that everyone who has got an approval this year has the best Xmas ever and those waiting know that there are people on here wishing you all the very best of luck in gettting the correct descision...VISA GRANTED!! I was based in Thailand so with the time difference I would wake up and read what the UK based posters had said the night before and then it went all quiet until the lazy lot got up again Thaivisa was always the first and last thing I read everyday and it helped mostly but sometimes it made me worry more and so I found myself telling my Wife not to read it....then sneaking a peak when she wasn't looking......I guess a bit like those other sites on the internet people have told me about - although I know nothing of them myself I'm now UK based and looking forward to picking up my step daughter when we can actually get a flight after the festivities Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to everyone. For several reasons, it was up to me to do the donkey work, and I learned huge amounts from this site, even one or two things new to the specialist immigration solicitor I was paying (TB Certificate!!!) They are back here now and helping with Christmas cooking and present packing, but I still keep an eye on this site, and like to see how people are getting on. I think all thanks to Rob Settlement Visa Guide, Thanks Rob!! We really expected things to take 3 months! For everyone who is just starting the process, make sure that you give in as much supporting documents as possible, we gave them a lever arch file full!! I think they looked at it and must have thought about how much extra reading I had given them and decided it was easier just to give the visa!! Thanks to everyone for all their help! However, in practice if they are residents and accompanied by their EU partner then it was up to the IO's discretion, but it was unlikely that a non EU citizen would be allowed through the EU channel on their first entry as a resident. TheFiend Posted December 30, 2009 Share Posted December 30, 2009 Wow 2,650 posts!!In March I remember starting this topic with a heavy, weary heart and an application pending with the Embassy. It took around 10 weeks back then, so it seems like whatever the issues the Embassy were having are resolved now as some of you are getting 2-3 day turnarounds? wow thats good. As for us we got married in August joined by my family and my wife's sister and mum. It was a lovely day. We now have a little girl on the way and she will be due on March 2010 which ironically is almost a year onwards from when we had that trip of traipsing around Bangkok visiting officials to get documents stamped and translated, permissions to marry granted, TB scans carried out with me constantly moaning about everyone ripping me off and my better half patiently telling me 'jai yen yen, jai yen yen' So anyone who has all this ahead of them or is mid application you have my best wishes. It can be tough but well worth it in the end. Myself and my other half look back on that very difficult period of having 'our lives in someones else's hands' and we see it as a challenge that ultimately made us closer and stronger. The words of Nietzsche comes to mind 'What does not destroy us, makes us stronger'. Best of luck to you all and hello to those I met through this thread. 108 pages..... The beauty of having dual-national offspring is my wife and child can avoid the tourist queues when arriving in BKK (using their Thai passports - I can too if I'm with them and holding my child ), and the non-EU queues at LHR when she's holding my child and the child's British passport Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

And like ROLYPIE cannot believe this topic is still going. I am sure all the advice and inputs from all posters have helped many people understand some of the problems that we face. Anyway, wife has been here since August 2009, we had baby girl November last year, they are over in LOS now, she has just been to VFS BKK to hand visa application for her 7 year old daughter to come to UK, Should be no problem with that one. Anyway good to go back and read all the old posts. All I have to worry about now and stress over is doing the wife's UK RESIDENCY visa in August/September this year !!!!
